English fillers to speak fluently and confidently. ( Gap fillers) - Free English lessons
When we speak continuously we end up using gap fillers. These words are short phrases and are used when we fall short of words. You would commonly come across people who end up making vocal sounds to keep a conversation going such as 'umm', 'ah' or 'oh' etc., They end up up doing this subconsciously but it’s better to avoid them as they are signs of weakness.
Here in this lesson we don’t encourage you to use fillers, but there are times when we hesitate in the middle of a conversation and search for words to keep going. Here are some expressions that you can use as fillers:
o Tell me something
o Wow
o Well
o You see
o By the way
o No way
o Certainly/ Surely
o Exactly
o Basically
o To be honest
All the above expressions help you to buy time and avoid that awkward silence when you are falling short of words.
There are situations when someone asks you a question and you are not able to answer straight forwardly, then please don’t give up, just repeat the question and add well, ......( helps you to buy time)
Eg) what do you think about this movie?
Repeat the question .........well, ........You know, I think it was a little boring and stereo type.

As a native speaker (I live in the Midwest in America)... I dont think we really use "Don't tell me" in the way that you described. I would say that we use it moreso when you forget a word, for example, "Where did you get that... oh don't tell me... that purse!", or just something like that in general: "Your favorite book is... don't tell me... Harry Potter!" Idk, just my experience ;P

These tutorials are awesome. However, I think they're too long to be patient and listen to all of it till the end. It gets boring to watch/hear someone talk a lot. Probably squeezing them in a 4-5 min video with more visuals and sounds and less talking would help people who are busy and are still wanting to learn from you. Just a feedback! IOv "well" and "exactly" are the only terms that would be appropriate for an interview. you could start a sentence with "to be honest" if you think your answer will be something they're not expecting to hear - it's usually used in that context.

Nahi bhai.. This is the way we should talk in english.. What we indian have issue is that we don't open our mouth while communicating like stretching cheeks, opening mouth appropriately, pronunciation, voice clarity etc... this way of talk leads to the wrong pronouncing of words, swell more ur hesitation, low ur confident, speaking in a very fast or low voice to hide ur errors, uncleared voice wherein one can't figure out the spoken word apparently etc.. I did English Teacher Learning Course from British Council... We literally need to talk in this represented way..
