🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:29 🙅♀️ Ending sentences with prepositions is acceptable in everyday English for natural speech. 01:37 🚀 Splitting infinitives is okay for better flow and emphasis in sentences. 02:32 🗣️ Starting sentences with "and" and "but" adds conversational flair and emphasis. 03:27 🧏♂️ Dropping the subject in informal English is common for quicker, informal communication. 04:08 🚻 Using "they" as a singular pronoun for gender neutrality and inclusivity is widely accepted. 05:32 📜 In informal conversation, subject-verb agreement rules can be relaxed for smoother and faster speech.

I teach adult English in Poland and when I first saw your video I thought you were a native speaker from the US, your English is that good. I was shocked to see you're from Ukraine. My students really struggle with their accents, and I've found that Ukrainian speak much clearer English than Polish speakers even though they have many common words. This video is particularly helpful for everyday speech. 👍👍👍

Does everyone here know what Prepositions are? Do they know that it is one of the nine word classes? What are you waiting for, is what I would say without thinking about it, simply because that is how the Swedish sentence construction is. Which is grammatically correct in Swedish.

One thing I don't like about breaking grammar rules is when people use Have or Has + Simple Past instead of Participle: Like I have went instead of I have gone!

I was educated in a Catholic Convent, graduating in 1969. The nuns taught students well, even if aided at times by a long piece of cane. Through the years, I have seen the English language being assaulted from all directions. The education system in Australia is sadly lacking. The teachers are not being taught properly themselves. My son, who is a data scientist, graduated in 2000, and admits that when he did, his spelling was atrocious. If not for spellcheck, at first, he would not have been able to get a decent job, which is ironic, because I was an English major. And teaching standards have not changed. The best example of this at the moment, and this has been created by an advertising agency, ( I naturally use a fake name), 'As a first time investor, Bob O'Grady takes excellent care of my portfolio.' This of course suggests that Bob O'Grady, not the client, is the investor. I see this horrible grammar everywhere, and though it assaults my ears, it is seemingly quite acceptable. Am I incorrect?

erson A : Is this bag yours? Person B : Yes, that's mine. In this conversation , why did person B use 'that'? Because bag is near to him. I think he should have used 'this'. please explain the concept.

Someone will say this if I don't! The whole preposition rule was just made up by some 17th century writers who were upset at where the English language is heading. Ultimately language is fluid it doesn't matter if it's grammatically correct at the end of the day. It's just evolution of language. 😮

Hey everyone! My name is Shivesh. I am an Upper intermediate to Advanced English learner and I live in India. I have been studying English for a few years, but now I really want to get a better job. So, I need to improve my English. I am looking for a speaking partner to practice with two times a week. I can meet via Google meet, Zoom, or WhatsApp. Would anyone like to practice with me and improve their English too?
