There lived a vegetable seller named Paul in a village. Paul was 21 years old. Paul had an elder sister who was of marriageable age and a younger brother who was studying in school and his parents had died when Paul was 5 years old. The responsibility of the entire house was on Paul. Paul also had to get his sister married. Paul used to wake up every morning at 4 am and go to the vegetable market to buy fresh vegetables. Paul used to sell his vegetables in two ways. He used to roam around from 9 am to 3 pm and then from 7 pm to 11 pm in the night, Paul used to set up a cart in a small vegetable market near his house. Paul used to roam around in small streets of different areas and sell his fresh vegetables by shouting. In the area where Paul used to go, two other vegetable sellers also used to come but all the people used to buy vegetables only from Paul. Both those vegetable sellers were very jealous of Paul because their vegetables were not sold, only Paul's vegetables were sold. Buy vegetables, buy fresh green vegetables. Paul's vegetables were a little more expensive than the market because his vegetables were absolutely fresh and he used to sell them to people on his cart at his home. And if a customer was unable to buy vegetables from Paul during the day, then that customer used to go to the market at night and buy vegetables from Paul. Paul had the same route everyday, the same colony and the same lane. An old woman used to ask Paul the price of vegetables everyday but never bought them. She used to do this everyday. One night Paul was preparing to return home from the market, he was putting the goods on the cart. An old woman was passing by there, Paul saw her going. Paul stopped the old woman and started asking. Amma, I come near your house every morning, you ask me the price of vegetables everyday but you do not buy, why do you do this, are my vegetables not good. The old woman replied, no son, is there anything like that. Your vegetables are very good and fresh but I do not have so much money that I can buy vegetables from you. Paul asked why is that Amma. The old woman told Paul, son, I live alone and I have no one in this world, I feed myself by begging. Paul felt very bad to hear this. Paul said to the old woman, you should come to the market every night and take whatever vegetables I have left from you for free. The old woman said to Paul, no son how can I take them for free, you will have to take some money, whatever money I have you can keep. Paul said to the old woman, no I do not need this money because I have to finish these vegetables by night anyhow and I have to bring fresh green vegetables the next day. That is why you should take these vegetables for free. Those two vegetable vendors who were jealous of Paul made a plan to teach Paul a lesson. They wanted to kill and scare him. One day Paul was returning home from the market. These two vegetable vendors were following him. Seeing a deserted road, these two caught Paul. They started shouting at Paul and started dying. Just then an old woman was passing by. The old woman saw that some people were killing Paul. The old woman started shouting loudly, save him, save him. Then both the vegetable vendors saw that the old woman had seen them and they both got scared and ran away from there. Paul's life was saved because of the old woman. Paul thanked the old woman a lot. Paul said to the old woman that today my life was saved because of you. Paul said to the old woman that how can I thank you. Then the old woman said to Paul, son there is no need for this, you also give me vegetables everyday, I have just done my duty. Then Paul said to the old woman, I do not have a mother and you also live alone, from today you live with me in my house with my siblings. The old woman agreed to live in Paul's house. Paul and his siblings started living happily together.
