He definitely should have had a relationship with the first girl who died. He should have been the one to turn on her and kill her because she wouldn't vote yes to continue the games, or go crazy after someone kills her in the brawl in episode 6. This would have developed his character much more and have a lot more people relate to him for going crazy when someone killed his girl or truly hate him for killing her himself for a very petty reason. I think the writers wanted to say were not going to be predictable and had the girl you assumed would have some sort of relationship with him die first. I don't agree with that decision

I’m actually impressed! Pronouncing English is difficult (native speaker here), and I can understand what he’s saying. That’s what matters. I’m studying Korean right now, and it’s way easier to pronounce words due to the characters being consistent in how they sound (obviously still very difficult to sound perfect). This is what I mean by English is hard to speak btw: Tough, though, through, thorough, thought “ough” is so inconsistent.
