Eric says "don't hurt me" while absolutely destroying his opponent.
@kayagiersch49072 жыл бұрын
Actually Black was winning after d4 so his "don´t hurt me" was very appropriate xD
@chessnerd10552 жыл бұрын
No actually Eric was winning for a bit but he blundered it away by playing Bc3 instead of Qxf5. Bishop can't be taken because rook hangs and queen covers promotion square. At the end black was the one destroying Eric all he had to do was play Qd2+ followed by g6 and white had no attack but he played Qf6 instead blundering the game

The regular ham and egger was completely winning though if he played Qd2+ or g6 instead of Qf6. Eric miscalculated when he played Bc3 but the difference is he still finds a way to win and capitalize on the opponent's blunders whereas the opponent couldn't capitalize on his blunders

This is so cool to finally see a very calm person doing such cool content. I'm a very calm person, and somehow, I feel like a lot of people on KZbin are really dynamic so that the average people would think that you need to be dynamic to go popular on YT. So this is cool to find someone like Eric ; and I also really like when I hear the smile in his voice.

6:18 Can't you take the knight there? After axb2 you can successfully take the rook because the Queen defends the promoting square?
@nicolascavailles-wurmser68882 жыл бұрын
I guess that keeping the Bishop keeps the initiative but yes your line is right The Bishop is an attacking piece whereas the Knight is only here to defend and can be easily remove with the white Bishop (just a beginner, maybe I am just saying bullshit ahah)

@peruman952 жыл бұрын
according to engine this is indeed the best move but i guess he wanted to keep the pressure rather than simplifying (he might've not seen that the rook was free after). moving the bishop like he did was actually a blunder that made it go from +4.4 to -3.5. However, the opponent made a worse blunder with it queen's move, and even worse with the #3 by taking the pawn at the end. The opponent actually had a huge advantage as Eric made a few blunders due to time pressure.
@PlainStrider552 жыл бұрын
It'll be kinda the same, cause if u take the horse there, they take ur bishop in b2 and put ur rook into danger, which forces you to move the rook to b1 so they don't exchange the pawn to a queen, but after you move, black could put his a8 rook to a1, then I guess you're dead, cause they can whether take ur rook after u take theirs and then exchange to a queen AND check ur king, or simply take ur rook, put u in Check, and then leave the space to exchange to a queen or whatever Actually it won't be kinda the same loool

At 3:56, why doesn't NxH4? It's supported by the Queen?
@sgtnubbings65012 жыл бұрын
I think h4 is a poisoned pawn, because there are some threatening looking Queen moves that can follow up Nxh4 that seem dangerous, though I haven't fully calculated. Qh5 looks best to me, as it threatens mate on h7 if the Knight moves, g5 defends but after white plays g3 the Knight is toast (g4 or just about any other move instead of g5 results in Queen takes Knight and goes up material). Qe5 threatens mate on g7, f6 looks to be the best immediate reply (Qf6 loses material to Qxf6 gxf6 Rxh4) but opens up to Bc4+ Kh8 and again Qh5 with the same h7 mate threat if Knight moves.

I thought maybe at 5:16, instead of Qd4 you play Qg5 f6 Bc4 Kh8 and then h6!! No?
@sgtnubbings65012 жыл бұрын
Kh8 isn't forced, d5 can be played (simultaneously freeing movement and scope for Black's Queen and Bishop) and the follow up seems uncertain.
@chessbeats95272 жыл бұрын
@@sgtnubbings6501 you take en passant and it’s check and know kh8 is forced no?
@sgtnubbings65012 жыл бұрын
@@chessbeats9527 I don't know how I managed to forget about en passant, shame on me! You're right, it does force Kh8 (or Rf7), though going immediately for h6 loses much of it's threat due to Nf5 (now protected by bishop), but looks to me like it will have to end with sacrificing that knight for the pawn, so this sequence ends up winning material regardless (I don't have much faith in my calculation skills though, especially when I'm missing en passants lol). Good catch!
@chessbeats95272 жыл бұрын
Yeah I just looked at it with the engine and after Qg5 best is Ng6 sacking the knight because after Nf5 you mate in seven

Hi Eric, watching you play chess got me back into it. Just curious why you didn't take the knight at 6:18? If pawn takes bishop, your rook takes their rook and your queen prevents promotion. While this might be the objectively better play, your move still makes a lot of sense because it keeps pressure while that line might be a little more slow. I'm curious how you factor time into your choice of moves and if it makes a huge difference if you're playing with increment or not. For example, better lines might be worse with less time if it cannot convert to checkmate.
