There’s more people in the world with an Indian English accent than any other English accent. It’s time people stop laughing at it. It’s a real thing and we’re proud of having it. PS there’s no ‘right way’ to pro-nounce things anyway since it depends on which country you come from and what your accent is. Edit: I agree that there is not one Indian English accent either but many which also holds true for a lot of English speaking countries.

Don't know how accurate other scripts are but here in India we use Devnagri script for Hindi and Sanskrit(and a few other lang) and one can be super sure of pronouncing a word correctly if it's written in devnagri even if the person has encountered it for the very first time.... hence we always keep good pronunciation in high regard but it's better we realize that it's not possible with English and stop shaming people for mispronouncing English words.

At the end of the day - english can be pronounced with various accents and what we should know - no accent is wrong as long as you speak the language clearly, and the other person can understand it. That's it. You don't need to have a British accent or American accent or Australian etc. Just be yourself my fellow Indians. Speak confidently, pronounce well and enunciate clearly. It's okay to adapt too. Let's just be honest, south Indians and North Indians have their own heavy English accents and I'd change the way i speak for their convenience. To clear things to people arguing about accents, many words have been given pronunciations based on the defined literary rules of English. While the enunciations can change, the rules generally should NOT be changed to adhere to the linguistic framework. Accents just generally define the different enunciations and stresses depending on regions. It's not just English, it's any language tbh. Eg. You can say "panacea" as a little stretched out or delayed, but never as "panache".
