Hi Alex. Imho this top case from Shad looks great, although side cases from givi looks better (v35) and they are narrower. But its a matter of taste.. What i realy like about Shad is 3p mounting system (dont looks odd when you take cases) and that you dont need a key to open it. Despite of that im using only top case from givi (v47, im riding only solo and its better for filtering) and im stick with it when changing bike becasu i have discount for givi rack from my dealer. Durability of this case is also great - i dropped it with the bike two or three times and almost not even a scratch. Thx for sharing your stuff. Mostly your videos convinced me to chang my XJ6 to NC 😉 Stay safe!!

Thanks for watching and for your feedback about the GIVI cases. I think this will help some people :) I agree, its more about the matter of taste. GIVI and Shad are very similar. I hope you are enjoying your NC, stay healthy.

This video it is very usefull for me, I am searching for a traveller solution and thanks for bringing this topic. I have some questions: How do you feel the bike with all the luggage and pillion? Do you feel it unstable or unsecure? Is your pillion feeling confortable with the back? She can sit with the back confortable on the top case? Greetings !

Ideal Bike hey thanks:) The bike feels very stable till 170-180km/h. Yes my girlfriend always leaned on the Topcase even with the tire on the back and she was fine :) don’t worry they are awesome:)

You mean to say I watched your German version with youtube subtitles when I could just have waited for this video ? 😁 I have the smaller SH23 panniers. Ideally Shad would make panniers half way between the size of the SH23 and SH36. When fitted to the NC750X the SH23s look like an air brake on an aircraft 😳 but they don't effect handling too badly. The SH36s are definitely better looking. The stated weight limits are stupidly low but I suppose it keeps the health and safety law suits at bay. I probably would have bought Givi or Kappa panniers but I found their mounting frames very confusing when trying to figure out what I needed to fit my bike so just went for the simple Shads instead. I fully agree with you that they are very good quality. I was very impressed with the design of the metal mounting frames.

C Cooper sorry I normally post all my review in German, English and Russian and the travel videos in English/Russian. Maybe it didn’t show you all 3 videos? I postet all 3 simultaneously :) About the panniers. I really like the SH23 too. They are way better for filtering through traffic. I think I will get them as well because they use the same mount and they are pretty cheap. 23s for everyday and the 36s for big travels :) Thanks for watching and stay healthy :)

Excellent video! I recently purchased Givi E22 panniers and a Givi E47 Tech top case for my NC 750S. Like you, I don't want to open the panniers from the side. I mounted them all on a Sw motech alu-rack and Evo side carrier. Sw motech is expensive, but in my opinion they make the best racks. Now I just need the time to travel somewhere 😁 Cheers!
@MrMegaPerez4 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) Yes SW motech is really good as well but so expensive :/ You should start traveling before winter is here ;)

Sh35 has 1l less and it's thinner than sh36 because whole locking system is inside the case but there is a problem to fit bigger helmets. I had huge dilemma which one to choose cuz sh35 looks better but sh36 can handle much more inside. Sh36 won this battle and I'm happy about that. I can recommend this product for this kind of price.

thanks for the information, I didn´t know that.

@@MrMegaPerez I've checked it with my helmet in my local shad's distributor. I'm glad I did this before purchase - my helmet fit to sh35 but I couldn't close the case. 1-2cm more room inside and there won't be any problems.

Looks like the the release mechanism on the SH36 has changed. Yours must be an earlier model. Mine cases release from the mount when you pull the carry handle completely upright. Yours have that extra piece you have to pull up.

I'm considering the top box and bracket, will be using mostly without the top case as a rear rack to support a hard cooler. I'm wondering your experience on stability and how much weight you would put on the top rack and how strong it is.
@MrMegaPerez4 жыл бұрын
Hey, the rack is very durable. At 3:40 in this video you can see how much luggage I put on the rack (full top case + tire + some other things). The top case was very heavy for (more than 15kg) and I went off-road and for many kilometers like this and never had an issue. The frame of the NC is also very strong. So I would worry to much if I was you :) it will be fine
@jonathanrosen61604 жыл бұрын
@@MrMegaPerez Thanks!!!! I actually just bought a CB500X 2016 model (new from Honda dealer, leftover stock). The bike is very similar to the NX and I REALLY like the look and feel of the grab rails and want to keep them. Looks like the SHAD runs below and behind them. Also, I was wondering if there is just a flat plate option, as I probably won't be using the Shad case itself, rather a Yeti style hard cooler.
@kkhalifah10194 жыл бұрын
Love that brilliant 3P mounting system, but these SH36 panniers are so bloody wide! They look twice as wide as those aluminium boxes on adventure bikes. Definitely going to give me a headache when trying to park and negotiating city traffic in foreign places - if a bike becomes too wide, might as well drive a car. Since that excellent collapsible SH58X can already swallow 2x fullface helmets, I hope Shad will produce something in between the huge SH36 and the puny SH23 that offers decent capacity while keeping the overall girth more manageable and less frightening.
@MrMegaPerez4 жыл бұрын
K Khalifah I agree the are very wide but it’s a problem with many cases. The Sh 22 are a very good alternative ;)
@kkhalifah10194 жыл бұрын
@@MrMegaPerez I already have similar 23L panniers from Givi. Excellent for commuting, but barely adequate when I tour with the wife. It would be so nice if they were just 5-7L bigger each. Those collapsible SH58X/SH59X top cases are definitely worth buying though. Very innovative.
@MrMegaPerez4 жыл бұрын
K Khalifah put some dry bags (10l or so) on top of the Givi cases (like I did on the Silk Road) you will have the space + it’s more comfortable for your wife to seat:)

Hello GeoAlex, awesome video. It's helping me to make a decision between GIVI and SHAD panniers. Here in Portugal the price is roughly the same but SHAD has the advantage that it comes with all the respective accessories along with the cases, for example for the top case it comes with the backrest and the mounting plate included. But I wanted to ask you how much clothing/accessories can you fit into the SH36 side case?
@MrMegaPerez2 жыл бұрын
Hey, I’m in Portugal 🇵🇹 right now 😂 (Lagos). I prefer the Shad cases because they look nicer and the 3p mounting is just awesome :) they are also very durable and can take a hit. You can fit a lot, especially in the top case also the weight limit is just a number we put more than double in it. I think you can see it in the paint highway video :)

Very impressive. How many miles/kilometres do you have on your NC? The Shad panniers and Top box look really good. I like the fact that there's not too much framework on the bike when the panniers aren't on it. BTW your language skills are amazing. Here in the UK we just speak English slowly and loudly when we're abroad - and then moan when someone doesn't speak our language.
