English Synod Members at Gafcon - Gabriel Chiu, Jane Patterson & Debbie Buggs

Gabriel Chiu from Liverpool, Debbie Buggs from London and Jane Patterson from Sheffield have spoken of the joy of being at Gafcon.
Jane Patterson, who has served for a decade on the Crown Nominations Commission, says she felt betrayed by the bishops who had failed to uphold their consecration vows and haven't taught truth.
Debbie Buggs says she has been told by Gafcon members this week that the General Synod vote, has left them feeling like they have been harmed by their mother (The Church of England).
Gabriel Chiu notes that delegates have told him about their love for the Church of England, and 'it's incumbent on us to repay that love by sticking with Jesus'.

Liverpool- I have just finished reading Bishops Ryle's charges to clergy and laity in Liverpool in the late 19th century, and some of his others works. I was struck by his emphasis on love and fatih as two vital things about being a Christian. It sounded just like the C of E- living in love and faith- except that Ryle put one other thing at the head of the three- repentance. What a difference a word makes.

At Keble College Chapel in Oxford (second home of Holman Hunt's "Light of the World") there is a fresco of the last judgement. Christs sits enthroned. On his right hand are the saved, and on his left the doomed, on their way to hell, and right at the forefront leading them- a mitred bishop.!
