For me the appeal of potentially getting this game is the enhanced sound chip. This is really a technical accomplishment for the Sega Genesis. I’m not dissing the FM sound either, it still sounds really good but to make sound so good on a Genesis cartridge game is really cool

It is so incredible what developers like yourselves have done with the Genesis over the years. I had all Nintendo consoles growing up but always liked playing the Genesis over at friends' houses and I especially liked the Sega Arcade games. As I got into my 20s, I really started gaining an true appreciation for this system when I finally bought one, which was well into the 6th generation. To say my mind is blown by what's been done on this "old" hardware in the past 10-15 years is a vast understatement -- It was only towards the "end" of the life of the Snes & Genesis that they really started to be able to hit the true potential of these machines but by that point we just "had" to have something new when we already had "gold". I don't have any of my old systems anymore, mainly because it just took up too much space. Is there an option to purchase these games to play via emulation?

Now we finally have been able to confirm that our custom board with the special audio chip also works with the Mega SG. Also, there is a new, longer playable demo where the player can run, and a new "updates" video in our KZbin channel with lots of news.

HOW IS THIS MUSIC POSSIBLE ON A GENESIS CART!? I know the Mega Everdrive Pro can do this too but I don’t understand how the audio gets routed through the Genesis’ output without turning it into (mangled) PCM.

The Genesis model 1 and 2 has an audio pin in the cartridge slot directly connected to the sound mixer, so you can output any kind of audio signal you want. Our cartridge has an audio chip in order to achieve this sega-CD audio quality and it is routed through that audio pin. Model 3 does not have this connection so it is not compatible. Please read the video description for more information.

@@nathandaniels4823 The real-time samples are generated by the Genesis/Magadrive hardware, which is limited to 32000hz if we only use 1 channel, 16000hz if we use 2 channels ( 2 different samples at the same time) or 8000hz if we use 4 channels (which is what we use in order to avoid sound effects cutting constantly.

I read that Snatcher and Shadowrun (both evident from this video) influenced this game, but did Illusion City also have an influence? This game kinda reminds me of it. Also, I love the music that kicks in around 16:14.

Yes, Illusion city is also an influence, I played it in the early 90's on my MSX Turbo-R (In japanese, and I finished it!) I didn't mention illusion city in the description because I thought noone knew about that game.

Thank you for your interest 😊 We haven't been able to test it with a Mega SG so we really don't know, but if the Mega SG does not have the AUDIO line from the cartridge slot connected to the audio mixer, the game will run without any music, just what happens to the original Sega Genesis and Megadrive MK3 (which doesn't have that audio pin connected), so in order to be safe, we say it only works with OG Sega Genesis / Megadrive MK1 and MK2.

@@ace3093 not software emulation maybe, but still hardware emulation (or "simulation"). In theory it should just about work on a Mega Sg, but if it does Kai has yet to explicitly say so.

@@kaimagazine8221 Judging by the fact the the Mega Sg is the only clone system to have a Mega-CD connector and that the Mega Sg's UI Settings have toggles to enable and disable CD and cartridge audio, this game should be compatible with Mega Sg hardware. Analogue's consoles have a near flawless record of working enhancement chip games, with only Paprium being an issue.

Hi, thank you for your interest. It is only available in cartridge form, but it is region free, so it is compatible with Mega Drive and Genesis models 1 and 2, and both PAL and NTSC

Also, the plot is what defined the title, not the 1% of the game you saw so far, there is a 99% you haven't seen, and you are assuming that the game will be like this all the time, but it has several plot twists and VERY different locations. Again, once you know the full story, and you have seen the full game, you will agree the name fits perfectly. But you have to see the 100%, not just a 1%.
