During the XYZ part, one person silently says the alphabet, the other one says "STOP". They play with the letter first person was at when stop was called. We normally play that with a pen (or a pencil) and a sheet of paper to write down our answers and count scores.

8:45 so basically game in Poland is called "Countries - cities", there are few general rules there: - in each round somebody is going (in their minds) through the alphabet (if they go to an end they start over again) next person in line stops him at random moment and he tells everybody on what letter he stopped - then everybody tries to find a word that starts with that particular letter in each category, categories were defined at the beginning (countries and cities are "must have" and that where the name of the game came from, but those can be literally any category) - first person who found all categories for that letter starts to count down from 10 to 0 (there could be exceptions for example you found 9 out of 10 categories, but you want to cut your opponents short so you can decide that you can get 0 for that one category but opponents won't get more time to figure out other categories and keep up with you) - if you have nothing or misspelled something then you get 0 points - if your answer is the same as somebody else you will get 5 points - if your answer is unique then you have 10 points - if you are the only one that found a word in that category you get 15 points game was very popular on summer camps as there is no much props needed to play it

The game is called "Państwa, Miasta" (Countries, Cities) or "Inteligencja" (Intelligence) and is normally played with pens and paper. Everyone have piece of paper and writes his answers down. That way when answers are revealed, noone is stealing someone else's answers. After letter for the round is determined, by the portrayed method of one person counting letters in the head until interrupted, players are trying to write down words starting with chosen letter in each category. Categories usually are countries, cities, rivers, animals, plants, famous people, first names, cars. Exact number and type of categories vary from playgroup to playgroup and especially, in case of ppl who don't usually play together, the "famous people" category should be clarified beforehand if it have to be historical person or does fictional characters also counts (sometimes these become separate categories). When one person finishes the round by filling up all categories he start counting to ten then says STOP at which point all players should stop writing and players reveal their answers. If I remember scoring correctly (it was years since I played this last time) players score 10 points for every original answer (one which noone else had) and 5 for shared answers. Joke at the end, about famous actor starting with P is that that guest performer who isn't part of Ani Mru Mru is famous polish actor Cezary Pazura, so "That Pa... Pa..." was play on public's anticipation of breaking forth wall.

Usually, to play this game (called Countries-Cities) you need a piece of paper and a pen. You then write a table and on top you write several categories, first two being a country and a city. First row is the categories, each next row is for one round. Other categories can be name, animal, plant etc. Me and my friends once played with categories related to everyone's interests - each person chose one or two categories (we ended up with categories like cars, history and anime). The other rules have been explained in other comments. When I was a kid, we didn't start with saying XYZ but we just said "start" and when someone wanted to get the letter A then they immediately said "stop". The way to do it is up to players. You should try playing this game with your friends, it's really fun!

Państwa miasta (Countries, cities). Normaly you would play with paper and pen, but they don't have it, and the audience will not see it, so they say it at loud. On begining, they were drawing (choosing) first letter. One person says at loud "XYZ" and start to says (not at loud, but "internally") the whole alfabeth. Then someone says "stop" and they take letter, that is first person currently on. Then, when you have letter, you can start to write down words in categories, like countries, cities, names, animals and so on (there is no one good category list). Then if first person is done, his start to counting to ten, and then the round is end. You can count the points. If only one person have the word, then it's 10 point i guess, if more people have the same word is 5 point, if you don't have it (or it's wrong) you have 0 points. Good game, you can try it:)

The "countries, cities" game was and still is very popular at school. Parents also like to play it with their children. It can be extended with names: animals, names, plants. Anything. The game teaches and entertains. Helps you remember. It doesn't take much. All you need is a piece of paper for everyone and a pen. Most often, everyone made a simple table on pieces of paper. At the top, in the boxes, he entered the category: city, animal...) and you can play now🙂🙃

xyza thing is a method of randomly choosing a letter. One person is saying the alphabet in their head another says stop. The chosen letter is the one the person saying the alphabet in their head was saying when stop was said. If you are the one saying the alphabet in your head and get to z and stop was not said you simply start saying the alphabet from the start. And since different people say the alphabet at different speeds, and might choose to sometimes go faster and sometimes slower (and in general it's not like anyone is trying to get a specific letter) this works as a fairly simple randomised letter generator. It is usually used with the game Country, City, River... (here translated as Cathegories) but is also often used by kids playing any othjer games that require a random choice of a letter. Country, City, River... (here: Cathegories) is a popular simple game, usually played with paper and pen/pencil. At the beginning you make a chart with cathegories at the top. Usually the basic ones are Country, City, River and then wahatever you come up with. Popular choices include item, occupation, name, plant, flower, car (either a make or a model), animal. You can add whatever is your interest like movie, actor, sport etc. Key is for all players to have the same set of cathegories, order isn't as important but having them in the same order makes scoring easier. Usually 6-7 cathegories allows for a fairly dynamic game. Each round is played the same: A letter is chosen (with our random letter generator), players attempt to fill the cathegories with approb=priate items starting with the chosen letter. Whoever finishes first says "One" aloud and then counts down to ten. Some voice the last three numbers some simply say stop when they get to ten, this is the method to give other players a last shot at completing their set. Once stop is said, players go cathegory by cathegory reading out their words. If you have a unique word you get 10 points. If someone else got the same word you get five less. If you do not have anything that's a 0. However, if you did have a word, and there were players that didn't come up with anything in that cathegory you get +5 points for each player that had nothing. Players check their guesses cathegory by cathegory writing down their scores for wach word, then sum up their points for the round and write that down in the last column (scoring column). You can play however many rounds you want, so this can be both a quick game played in a spare moment as well as a long one playes in a train compartment on your way to vacation. Although usually once you go through the whole alphabet it is a good idea to get a new set of cathegories to maintain the challenge ; )

*Stop* is pointing letter to stop inner 'alphabet scrolling', for one that is chosen in this indeed existing child/family mostly oriented game. 😉 Difference is, in true game, we write it down in tabs like: country, city, name, animal, thing and such. Correct answer is 10 points. Same answer is 5. No answer is 0. Rounds goes, till ones deciding to stop and then all sums up their points and share by end. 😊 Game is mostly family oriented, as got its educational background, but can be played at with friends, or anyone. It is old style, like games similar to 'ships'. They obviously are suppoused not to be too educated, Prof one is suppousedly called so, because is able read and write, we can guess. 🤷🏻♀️ But all in all, such family oriented game, indeed existed, through is not as much popular, as in old days. 🤷🏻♀️
