In 2014, Russian troops attacked Ukraine, but Putin said that they were not Russians, because such uniforms can be bought in any store and it could be anyone. When Poland gave its MiGs (fighter jets) to Ukraine in 2022, this is how we responded to Putin. You can buy such planes in any store, that's not us.

In the 9th century, Hungarians invaded Europe. They really liked Austria, Germany and Czechia, but after their "visit" to Poland they decided: "No more invasions." In 1412, they forgot about this rule and went to Poland again. Since the Battle of Bardyov, they no longer have memory problems.

As for the meme regarding Putin 2014 vs 2022, the point is that Putin claimed in 2014 that he was not sending troops to Ukraine, that unidentified civilians were buying Russian uniforms and that is why they look like that, the so-called "green men". In response, in 2022 we and our neighbors are not sending MiG planes to Ukraine, but someone is buying them in stores and that's where they ended up in Ukraine.

In 2014 where Russia took Crimea Putin said this, to play innocent that he does not know anything, those are not Russian soldiers that took Crimea. In 2022 Poland donated I think most or all of their Mig-29s (which are soviet construction) to Ukraine.

About your encounter: to sound more naturally, you should make a sentence that sounds more like "Excuse me, what is that roll with?", in Polish: "Przepraszam, z czym jest ta bułka?". That'd sound much more accurate to Poles 😊 "What's inside?" is of course right and understandable, but usually Polish people use this phrase to ask about the content of a container, like: "co jest w tym pudełku?" ("What's inside that box?"). Asking that way about food may sound funny, as it implies some object was placed inside, like a key inside the cake or something ☺️

Trust me even if you don't like cheese there's a cheese in Poland called Twaróg, it will make your mouth water for it if you eat it sweet, e.g. in Pierogi z twarogiem i rodzynkami which at least in London you can buy in every polish shop.

Fun fact: technically it's not necessarily the same blueberries. We definitely have a difference with the USA - their blueberries are Vaccinium corymbosum, which can be cultivated. And while you can also buy them more commonly in Poland now then say, 10 years ago, our amin blueberry - and the one used in pierogi - is Vaccinium myrtillus, a kind of a blueberry that cannot be cultivated and is picked from bushes living in the wild in forests. They're a bit smaller, their flesh is purple unlike the white flesh of the corymbosum, and their juice can stain your fingers quite a bit. But boy, are they tasty. You can often buy them on the markets, and oftentimes people will sell them by the roadside. If you ever come across them, get some, and try them just straight up, with whipped cream.

'Węgier, Polak - dwa bratanki I do konia i do szklanki. Oba zuchy, oba żwawi, Niech im pan Bóg błogosławi' - pierwotna wersja słynnego porzekadła. Dziś funkcjonuje wersja: 'Polak, Węgier, dwa bratanki, i do szabli i do szklanki'.

Also, while there is camaraderie between Poland and Hungary, they are not our neighbours. There's Slovakia between us. The meme at 1:20 is actually NOT accurate at all, cause it makes it seem like the infantry did literally all of the work, while the Hussars acted as a "Victory parade" for the lack of a better word. And that comes from a whole crowd of contrarians who are dedicated to undercutting anything significant that Poland has or did. While it is true that the infantry fought for the majority of the siege, saying that Hussars weren't important because "They just swooped in at the end" is a mute point. No shit, they were the deciding factor, that is exactly why people call what they did impressive. Contrary to what the meme suggests, Polish-Austrian side wasn't winning. It was a siege, not a battle, so the longer it lasts, the more they're subject to dulling out. 14 hours in, Ottomans were digging under formations to plant explosives, Hussars basically acted as a Deus Ex Machina.
