Wow. I just looked back at all the interesting videos you’ve made - I look forward to watching a bunch. You’re intelligent and interesting and I hope more people find your channel! So much of BookTube is YA and fantasy and “competitive reading” etc but there is definitely a space for intelligent discussion like this.

Thanks so much! I like a ton of different kinds of books, but don’t often run into people talking about loving classics (except popular ones like P&P.) Enjoy the channel! 😁

I would suggest A Christmas Carol as a good introduction to Dickens, and Animal Farm as a brilliant way into allegorical and political fiction.

@@englishnerd5580 In the political category, Brave New World is pretty accessible too. 👍

Considering alternative list: Poetry: Poe:Collection. Russian: Gogol: The Overcoat. Play: Glass Menagerie. Novel: An American Yankee in King Arthur’s Court/Twain London: People of the Abyss. Your list is also great. Thanks for sharing.

I can recommend "Hadji Murad" by Leo Tolstoy to that list. 100 pages but "profound".

This is funny because, for my first epic, I have Le Morte d'Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory. I need to purchase a companion book of someone's analysis and commentary. I do however have a deep appreciation of the translation because I am going back in time reading literature from the 1400's. I know it is rare to find enjoyment in reading medieval literature but I play Dungeons and Dragons and love fantasy and History!
