Раузат Толеу Hadn't been - это страдательный залог (Passive Voice), то есть Hadn't been invited переводится как Не был приглашён (кем-то). Но, так как здесь присутствует местоимение They (Они не пригласили), то нет потребности в страдательном залоге :)

Про остальные времена ничего не могу сказать, там все логично. А вот про "Perfect", могу сказать только одно, слишком обвешан всякими цацками, вроде "have", "have been". Лично я начал читать английскую литературу ещё до изучения времен. И если возникали трудности с переводом, то это только времена "Simple" и "Continuous ". А вот c "Perfect", вообще никаких трудностей не возникало, я просто пропускал эти противные "have" и " have been", как "слова паразиты", мимо, и спокойно дочитывал предложение. Причем прекрасно понимал о чём там идет речь. Следовательно, англичане зачем-то усложнили себе жизнь обвешав несчастный "Perfect" блекджеком и шлюхами. Зачем они это сделали, пока не могу понять. Ведь даже я, иностранец для них, и то не испытываю трудностей вычеркнув "have" и "have been" из своей жизни, если это касается "Perfect", в понимании смысла предложения. Значит эти слова истинно избыточны в английском "Perfect". "After the Sun had set, we saw thousands of fireflies". "had", вычеркиваем, на выходе получаем удобоваримую фразу "After the Sun set, we saw thousands of fireflies", "После захода солнца, мы увидели тысячи светлячков". А как же иначе то?? Have have had been, have had has, мля... SUNSET!

У немцев еще хуже, там как в русском, всё спрягать надо. И в текстах употребляют литературное прошлое, а в разговорном разговорное. И получается, что они говорят я был кушающий, а в тексте пишут я поел, причем всё спрягают по лицам. Поэтому в английском можно смириться с маленькими сложностями. И какое счастье, что в английском не нужно учить к каждому существительному. DER DIE DAS указание на род. И еще у немцев слов паразитов и частиц в предложениях море. Радуйтесь все кому только английский надо учить! Повезло вам!
