PhraseCamp - Making Small Talk - 05 Speech Club Gregg: Good evening everyone. Today we have a new guest attending our Roastmaster Speech Club. His name is Tony. This is Tony's first time to attend our speech club, so let's make him feel welcome and give him a big round of applause. Tony: Thank you for the kind introduction, Gregg. It's great to be here. My name is Tony Made and I am 41 years old. I currently work as programmer at Dinosaur Corporation in the It department. For my hobbies, I enjoy scuba diving and mountain hiking every month. I came here today, because I would like improve my public speaking. Sometimes I get really nervous making presentations at work. And I feel it hurts my career. I've heard great things about Roastmaster Speech Club, and how it's a great way, to not only improve my public speaking, but also increase my overall confidence. Hopefully, with the help of Roastmaster Speech Club, I'll be able to make great presentations at work from now on. Thank you for welcoming me, and I hope to learn a lot, and get better with your help. Thank you very much for your time. Gregg: Thank you for sharing your story, Tony. How about we give Tony another big round of applause?

PhraseCamp - Making Small Talk - 01 Networking Event Speaker 1: High there, nice to meet you. I'm Steve. Speaker 2: Hi, I'm Rachel. Speaker 1: Is this your first time to attend this business event, Rachel? Speaker 2: In fact it is. I thought it would be a great way to meet new people. Speaker 1: Well, you're in the right place, so where do you work, Rachel? Speaker 2: As a researcher at Grant Pharmaceuticals. Speaker 1: That's impressive. Speaker 2: Thank you! And what do you do, Steve? Speaker 1: I work as an investment banker. Speaker 2: Let me guess. Do you happen to work at Silverman Backs? Speaker 1: In fact, I do. How do you know? Speaker 2: Just a lucky guess. I hear they're one of the best investment banks in New York. Speaker 1: Yes, it is. It's too bad I have to work long hours. I'd rather get out of the office and meet people, than be stuck in the office all day. Speaker 2: I completely understand. These days, it seems as if everyone's stuck in the office. Speaker 1: Exactly right! By the way, here's my business card. If you happen to need any banking advice, feel free to contact me anytime. Speaker 2: Thanks, I will. Well, here's my business card. If you also happen to need any research advice, just contact me any time, on Monday and Wednesday afternoons only. Speaker 1: Sure, I'll keep that in mind. Well, it was nice speaking with you, Rachel. If you could excuse me for a moment, I need to speak to another person right now. Hope we can speak again later. Speaker 2: Likewise, it was nice to speak to you as well.
