I’m American and I’m trying to learn German, but I don’t want to have an accent. I’ve been watching SOOOOOO many “How I Learned English” videos trying to find someone who doesn’t have an accent so that I can copy their method and use it for German. You’re literally the only one I could find that sounds 100% American. Thank you so much for making in this video! I’ll definitely be using your advice to learn German.

You speak/sound like u were born here. For someone who started learning English age 14, this is remarkable. I know ppl in my family who arrived to the USA around age 14, 15 and still struggle with fluency and get their thoughts across clearly. Amazing

Your “to” sounded a bit French ish or somewhat overemphasized at the beginning but it could just be my perception though

With all due respect, you haven't explained how you tackled the accent. It's a key element.

I'm Ukrainian and I've been using your method just intuitively for 3-4 years, especially that I was so lucky to talk to many Americans out of Peace Corps...until the covid pandemic broke out and they were all brought home. I was nearly as fluent as probably you before settling in US...but now I live in Ireland for 7 months and....it's an entire struggle! Completely different accent and speech structure, I barely understand them from the first time and they don't always understand me either straight away without repeating...Meanwhile, many truly believe I'm American and deeply surprised when I say I'm not...

yes, the whole point of learning to talk like a native speaker is to make it a part of your identity :)

My native language is English, and I’m learning Japanese. I enjoy watching language learning videos occasionally regardless of the person’s native and target language. The part about treating your target language as your native language and staying relaxed very much related to. As I become overwhelmed by Japanese easily to the point of experiencing headaches that make me unable to continue. I’ve needed to listen to videos in Japanese while consciously making an an effort to relax to be able to absorb nearly anything.

I'm able to understand english up to a native level, though its obviously due to the circumstance that I was only able to use english since i was young. But living in an environment (rural parts of malaysia) where english is rarely used anywhere above "intermediate" level causes a deterioration-cycle of my english skills. By that i mean its not possible for me to 'lose' my capacity for english, seeing as to how its literally my only base language where i can construct coherent sentences. But the lack of thought/language stimulation from my daily life dampens my overall language comprehension. I can listen and read and write just as well as a native learner but ive never had the ability to form native-level conversations with people. I wonder if anyone - especially those who dont live in a native-ly-english speaking community without a fluent secondary language. (I do have malay but its nowhere near half of my english proficiency)

Веня, у тебя реально крутейший уровень языка. Не отличить от носителя, от американца. Спасибо за то, что делишься своим опытом.
