Hi, thanks for a great demo. And also your answer below re: camera. Very helpful while we are trying to buy an engraver. Would the laser also be able to engrave the steel head? (or in my case, axe heads)?
@MonkeyWoodworks
@MonkeyWoodworks Жыл бұрын
The 10watt laser isn't that powerful however with a the help of a marking spray or paper, it is possible to etch onto an axe head.

How do you get the grid?!!! I can not find anything about that 😢
@MonkeyWoodworks
@MonkeyWoodworks 9 ай бұрын
That grid I am using is a homemade honeycomb. I purchased a large sheet of the mesh from Home Depot and cut it down to size. You can also find a honeycomb to fit the M1 on etsy through xTool.

Thanks for explaining the "frame" feature! I tested on a stainless-steel cuff the other day, and I now have the top of the word BRAVE engraved on my bottom plate!

Oh no haha. Well, that should always remind you to check your work! I suggest you find a piece of aluminum at HomeDepot or similar that fits the base and keep it there just in case when engraving. This will protect the black base of the M1. The black base needs to be protected because if you ever use the double-sided cutting mat for blade cutting, it can easily stick to the black base when needed.

Thank you Michael! I need the a laser engraver machine (very friendly user) to engrave a very small wooden objet so I really don’t know if this machine will work because you can’t trust the camera from the M1 so I’m still having second thoughts about it. I know the Glowforge works well but it is very expensive. I really appreciate all of your videos 🙏

Dont take my comment the wrong way. I actually love the camera. It works great to get you in the ballpark of what your engraving on and is spot on for flat surfaces. The camera plus framing feature is a perfect combo.

Hello, i love all your m1 video has help me a lot. I was wondering where i can get the honeycomb for the xtool m1
@MonkeyWoodworks
@MonkeyWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
The homemade honeycomb i use is not the best. it doesnt allow enough airflow. If you look online, a 300mmx400mm honeycomb will fit. However, on esty, a person is selling an exact fit honeycomb for the M1. The only drawback of that one is that it doesnt have a frame around it or a baseplate. Its literally just the honeycomb and a bit flimsy.

I’ve been watching your videos all day and I feel like I’m finally ready to use my machine! I’m just wondering how to do a full wrap on a curved tumbler such as a yeti, Stanley (with the handle removed) can you show us?? I’d be willing to even send you some tester cups!

Oh gosh. I have seen people do it but I have not tried it yet. There is some measuring and image editing you need to do to in order to make it fit. I do appreciate the offer haha.

Do you have a video on settings for certain materials?
@MonkeyWoodworks
@MonkeyWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
Every setting I use I try to share in my videos. However, most of this is trial and error till you find what fits your preference. Plus, the settings will vary by the species and thickness of wood and/or material so I always test on a test piece first.

How can I turn off the cross hairs and get just the led light for exact location, same software as you but on the D1? Thanks
@MonkeyWoodworks
@MonkeyWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
The M1 does not have cross hairs. It just has a dot. Maybe the laser modules are different.

Not being able to trust the camera is making me regret my purchase. Once it arrives I may change my tune but the whole reason I got this was because of the camera

The camera works great for flat surfaces and is handy to get you in the ballpark. You have to use the framing feature on all lasers to make sure it will fit your needs. The camera makes the setup that much faster.

@@MonkeyWoodworks could it be that the placement of the camera was so much off, because the automeasure showed a false value? (that hammer certainly is thicker than 0.1in). I saw on severeal videos that adjusting the focus height also changes the camera preview in the software. Just ordered the M1 yesterday and looking forward to using it :-) good videos!
