DS gave his all & was willing to love DM even if she chooses JP. That's why he got DM in the end. JP still struggles with his own feelings & always do things too late. His risk aversion affects his love life as well as his professional life. He'd be better off learning to take more risks. He may help, but so can a big brother, a friend, or a mentor. You wouldn't expect a girl to marry everyone who help her would you. Until JP interact with DM as a suitor, he is not in the game. But he's too afraid of rejection to do so. Maybe that appeals to you personally. But then you are not DM. He can have you instead. DS backed DM every time. He gives her confidence to pursue her dreams & realise her Dad's legacy. And he's upfront about his feelings for her. Much easier to deal with. Much more positive to be with. As for happiness, JP himself said that loved up couple can end up bitter divorced enemies. What happier ending for him than to grow personally & learn to lower the wall he raised around him. He is lonely because he won't let people in. By opening his heart to the less fortunate (orphans) & accept friendly overtures of the Seo clan & DS & co, he gained the warmth that he lacked as an orphan. Again, how is this a sad ending? Why are you so hung up on a romantic love as the only route to happiness?

@@piakennedy987 for me love is about being there when someone needs me. And that what JP did, he comforted Dalmi through his letters during her mom n sis left and ever her father's death. He may not be that sweet talker like Ds but he shows his affections through his action. Also we cant blame someone just because he did not confess his feeling asap after all the lies DM had to go through . So JP confess in a way so she could not feel pressure. He gave her enough time to think and make her own decision about it. That is so admirable as most men are always pushing for answers frm women when it comes to love. But still DM did not gave any answer to him even after 3 yrs. So that part was totally left hanging like that by the writer. I mean if you don't like someone you could just said so. But no, she had to wait for him to let her go in the end. What a awful way to treat someone. Maybe you are a kind of person who can confess easily but remember not everyone are like that. Including me. For me action speaks louder then word. One does not have to shout ILOVEYOU all the time to make me feel loved. A simple kind gesture is also called loved. Plus the ending is totally off, JP was not even there in DS & DM wedding group photos. The writer treated like he didn't exist all of the sudden. If he was a brother to DM like you claimed at least he shld be there during their happy moments. But NO. It seems like his character was there for being used by others like a punching bag or something. But this really hits reality to me as humans always tends to be selfish no matter how much feelings and effort you pulled out for someone in the end we means ntg to them. Also i wrote this comment because i was really upset how this turn out to be, i watch kdrama to release my stress but this gave me even a bigger headache in every episode. I was so relief when JP pull him self out of that toxic love triangle. So yes, in conclusion the ending really sucks for me.

@@DaniellaPark72 Please rewatch without skipping a scene. JP was not there when DM's Dad died. He left just at that point without even a goodbye letter. And he started the letters not of his own volition, but at his benefactor's insistence. I don't blame him. But you give him too much credit. Also, he is the sweet talker compared to DS. DS had no experience with women. His first text reply to DM was straight from his inexperienced heart. It was JP who stopped him & replaced his honest reply with vapid sweet talk, which unfortunately a lot of girls fall for. Remember also, DS didn't know any of the excuses men use to ditch women, but JP clearly does because he's the one telling DS to use them to fob off DM after the networking party. DS showed his support for DM by listening to her, not judge her based on her educational credential or lack of expertise & experience where others would have, turning her visions & ideas into reality. He does not sweet talk her. He speaks from his heart to his first love, with compassion & with understanding of how it feels like to be on the receiving end of vapid harsh social judgements. Until his obsession about keeping the team together he puts DM's wellbeing first, apologising & worrying about her welfare (asking her not to cry, reassuring her her accomplishment wasn't fake), rather than finally dumping his feelings on DM like JP did. JP may have said DM need not reply, but in the epilogue he made clear to the ancestor con woman that he did want a reply, but was also afraid that the reply might be a rejection. It was not DM's welfare he had in mind, it was his own feeling he was dealing with. Again, understandable & I don't write him off as a villain. But he's still a bit too messed up psychologically to be in a healthy relationship. He needed therapy first. Then he can make a woman happy & be happy himself. Our different experiences & personalities obviously affected our view on JP & DS. While I sympathesize with you & JP on how difficult it can be to express your feeling, for a healthy relationship it's important that we learn communicate well & not expect the other person to be a mind reader. It will avoid misunderstanding in a relationship which may lead to breakup. I agree actions can speak louder than words. But DS did a lot for DM too. So JP is at best equal to DS & no more. We also need to learn to know ourselves & be honest with ourselves, which JP wasn't able to do initially. JP needs to learn to drop the armour acquired as an orphan when it comes to love & friendship. He is lonely only because he won't let people into his life. From the very start DS looked up to him. Imagine meeting your idol only for that idol to be so rude to you, keep on putting you down, calling you a loser, wanting to have nothing to do with you really. At the end it was YS & DS who reached out first with an olive branch - YS by apologising for putting all the blame for his brother's death on JP (which I think he only did because Ms Yoon's better mentoring style got the message through to him where JP's harsh words couldn't), DS by wanting JP's involvement with CM company by accepting the investment (even though JP wanted to weasle out of such relationship). When people reach out to him, he needs to learn to accept that hand. That's how he'll stop being lonely. The world is not as cruel, cynical, & heartless as he believed. Grandma proved it from the beginning of the drama by taking him in. Sadly it took him the entire drama to finally learn that lesson & start to open up. I'm sure even if he wasn't in those end photos he has a much friendlier relationship with everyone. DS is clearly not one to bear grudge, and never really hit back except to protect DM. He took pretty much all fo JP's harsh criticism of himself silently, the only exception being when SST won Coda. Don't feel sad for JP. He is starting to heal. He will have a brighter future even if he didn't get this girl. As for DM not making it clear to JP her feeling, if JP had asked again & this time asked for a reply, he might have gotten a straight answer. They were still in a working relationship & he still has a relationship with her Grandma. It must have been uncomfortable for her to reject JP outright. Also, you said actions speaks louder than words, surely then you should accept that she hasn't reciprocated with a clear verbal answer to be sufficient an answer then. You can't expec the other party to do what you yourself can't do. It wouldn't be fair. DM was still nursing her heartache at having to breakup with DS in such a cruel way, why should she be responsible for JP when JP's too timid to make another move? As someone who hung on to some letters from childhood as her first love, preventing her from forming real adult relationships for 15 years, why do you expect her to forget her first proper relationship so quickly? During the ransomeware incident it was clear that she was beginning to give up on any hope of reuniting with DS & possibly consider JP. So it's unfair to rush her through her heartbreak. Do you really want JP to be a rebound relationship which is likely to fail? JP himself said happy couples can also end up bitter divorced enemies. Why do you then prioritise a love realtionship over personal growth as a reward for JP? Something that might be transient over something that is permanent?
