I began watching TMWYS just because Sooyoung is in it. I hoped it would be good for her sake, but IMHO it is way better than I expected. It's subtle and smart--the script-writing, the plot construction, the directing and the acting. Jin Seo-Yeon and Oh Hyun Jae play their characters very delicately (Hyun Jae's character has some scenes as part of his back-story that, while dramatic, aren't overblown). Anything 'comedic' in the series seems natural, as would ordinarily occur between colleagues and tends to be ironic/sardonic and in-context, rather than injected for some relief from the tension and gloom that provides the general mood of the series. Sooyoung's prodigious comedic talents don't feature at all---she holds her own Jin Seo-Yeon, and Oh Hyun Jae, as an actor of intelligence and subtlety. I remember Sooyoung in "Hello Schoolgirl" ( 2008 ) ---I was so impressed with her natural acting in that, but her comedic talents in general seemed to be more in demand in the following years ( I haven't watched The Third Hospital yet---I really should!). In TMWYS I really do forget I'm watching "Sooyoung of SNSD". This series actually gets pretty 'dark' and spooky. It's really 'smart', and really good.
