Engwe EP-2 - 9 Months Later Test Ride ASMR

Hi guys just a quick 9 month later test ride for the Engwe EP-2. No actual info yet as I'm working on an updated review for the bike :)

Just a quick video today! Its been 9 months since I first got the bike, its still fully functions and the only thing that I've noticed is that scratching sound you hear... not sure what that is need to figure it out! @@mikoajkorba4589 I think its a good bike does what it says out of the box, but you got to be aware that Chinese companies will not help you with any after sale support in case anything goes wrong. So I guess be prepared to troubleshoot and repair the bike by yourself in case something breaks.

Question, how does this bike perform in rain? Can it even ride in rain?

Riding in the rain is perfectly fine , I haven't seen any water get in the battery compartment. The charging port also has a little rubber stopper but it sometimes hard to put in right.

@@JeffyTology I see, thanks for your response, all tho I have 1 more question, I recently bought this exact bike, and everything works fine except for throttle mode, it doesn't activate at all, meanwhile PAS(Pedal Assist System) works fine, did you encounter the same issue before? If so how did you fix it, if not do you have any idea what the problem might be?

@@Gloverfield sorry for the late reply! Not sure if you have the same controller as mine but it might be disabled. Just search which controller you have and check, there should be a throttle setting. If that setting is enabled then your throttle might be broken, I’m assuming it’s just off since the bike should throw an error if the throttle is not detected.

When driving at Max speed (38km/h) how long Will the battery last?

I've not done a max speed only test but, with motor only I manged to get 35KM from one charge. Now this could be lower or higher depending on where you live. Hotter temps makes batteries work more efficient for example :)

Have you been approached by the police about it's use on the roads yet? I'm planning on buying one soon but I'm worried about it being seized during the commute to or from work, is it legal to operate?

Where are you from? Right now police are ignoring these at least in Ireland, check your local laws they differ for each country. Here in Ireland as long as it’s pedal assisted it should be fine. In the uk for example the bike might be illegal due to the motor size but they get over it by limiting the speed to 25kmh.

I’m using a 360 camera and the mount came with it! It’s called insta360 one r and I got it with the motorcycle bundle :)

@@roboeclipse just the metal noise that you hear in the video and the usual maintenance (blow out tubes, new brake pads, etc.) The bike still works great! My brother mainly uses it now and he loves it :)

If you’re looking for something relatively cheaper compared to what you can buy locally yeah I do recommend it! Just a few things to keep in mind; the bike is heavy, doesn’t particularly do well on steep hills cause of the hub motor, brakes are usable but suggest switching them out for better ones and last thing is to be prepared to work on the bike if anything goes wrong since most Chinese companies will not respond after 30 days. Ive got a samebike with 350w motor which does 18/19 mph. Do you think engwe is much faster and better than samebike? Coz im not sure to invest more money on Chinese ebikes

Don't invest more I would say, I would just put that money on upgrading your samebike. The top speed for the engwe is around 22mph least my one anyways and thats when its above 50 or 60% battery. Also the battery type on these aren't really all that useful for higher power motors. If you do want a faster bike though I would suggest buying one of the 1000/1500w ebike kits, you can convert a normal bike or even use your samebike, the only thing tho is that the battery on those kits are massive to support the amount of power being pulled by the motor, so you'd have to find a way to mount it :)

@@MrTimmmers I believe this is a different version of the bike EN and the one I have is EP. EN from the looks of it has suspension and also has regen capabilities.

Every bike is just a frame (btw every bike is made in china, lol) with the parts, witch you can upgrade to whatever you want. If you want new look of your bike, then yes you can buy the new one

The max speed for the version I have is maxing at 37/38Kmph or 22/33mph. The newer revisions of the bike might have a higher top speed but not sure.

Hey, the metallic noise seems to be a combination of the chain, fender and motor. Once I removed the back fender the bike was noticeably more silent, but you know I need the fender so I just deal with the loudness of the bike. The bike is still going strong! The battery as well seems to be holding up great.

@@RichardJenkinsMusic I bought it off of aliexpress but I checked that the seller has good reviews and also messaged the seller beforehand :) Little tip if once you get your bike check everything if it’s working, usually if anything is damaged or not working the sellers would send you extra parts, after that thought don’t expect anymore help sadly :(

Sounds like vibrations on that metal back bit as it could be a little loose going to the centre of the rear wheel. Very minor I would of thought 👍

You mean the whining metal sound? I haven’t figure out what’s causing that yet the fender seems to be tight enough and the chain is not touching the wheel hhhmm Also I think the fender itself is making loads of noise when I accelerate since there’s only a tiny gap from the wheel to the fender.

@@JeffyTology that's cool then. I had mine since September 22 so plenty more riding. I think the vibrations are like say a cabinet that vibrant till one corner is lifted slightly the same with washer machine so it could be one area that needs slight adjustments and that noise will go. This a great ebike and lots of fun. I want to go out today but it's freezing lol. 😁👍
