Incredible bike, they just keep getting better with every review. The battery removal is easy and well thought out by the design team at Engwe. Improve your own road safety and visibility by wearing bright clothing or a yellow vest over your t-shirt. You'll know yourself as a car driver, black makes it difficult to see other road users. I'm 6' 2" and the bike fits me very well. I could be 2 or 3 inches taller (just guessing) and I believe it would still be a good fit.

I got my L20 for £945 last December. I love it. On full charge, I easily visit family on a hilly 20 mile trip. 10 there and 10 back even on pedal assist 5 leaves 2 bars of power when I get home. Like any powered bike, on muddy or spongy forest tracks, it will fishtail. Just be ready for that, LOL. It's not a scrambler, so don't expect it to handle like one. I've run out of momentum on some short but steep trail slopes and had to throw on the anchors. That's because it's heavy, and I misjudged the power I needed. All in all, it's a great dependable bike, and yes, it does turn heads. Thanks for the review. I haven't seen a bad one yet, and they all confirm I made the right choice.

I've got the Engwe X20 (750w, dual battery). They are fantastic bikes, so much fun. 30mph on a pedal bike feel scarily fast.

I bought mine last year and it's brilliant, battery distance is not the best but I bought an extra capacity spare battery so solved that problem. Next purchase will be more sleek hybrid tyres after these have worn down. I use mine to pick up shopping in my town so much easier than finding and paying for parking. Lots of folk come and ask about the bike when I am sitting outside the cafe with my coffee, happy to tell them how good it is. Great video Dave keep the coming. 👍

I think the motor is actually rated at 750w, but it's been restricted to 250w for the Uk market. There are plenty of videos showing how to unlock the full potential of the motor and take your top speed well above the utterly ridiculous 15.5mph limit.

That matt black just looks stunning mate, that would be me using it unlocked it defiantly feels nice to use something so effortlessly I'm like an adrenaline junkie who always likes to go fast when I can once you pull the throttle you want to go faster 😂 Can't stand those potholes damn UK roads suck for a smooth experience you never know when you'll hit a pothole unless you know the road and analyse it. the best thing about mechanical brakes is least you don't have to keep bleeding them I have to get a new hydraulic leaver because mine snapped going over a pothole. Awesome review as always mate big thumbs up 😊👍

It's not legal unless you set the twist throttle to approx 6kph. Good luck with that because that will mean 6kph top speed. It's not a gray area at all. BTW, I've owned one for 2 years. Takes yer chances

It's not legal in the uk on public roads. On private land yes. He says perfectly legal, it's not legal at all. It has a throttle that takes you to a higher speed than the legal 15.5 mph.

​@@lizvickers7156 That's why the bike comes with the throttle deactivated, to make it UK compliant. It's your choice if you want to ride legally or not, but I very much doubt you'd have any problems, as long as you're sensible and don't attract unwanted attention from PC Plod.😊

I just watched another video on the Engwe L20 2.0. The guy said it stayed on 2 bars until he reached 40 mile range and then, it stayed on 1 bar also forever. Perhaps, go out and ride it until empty charge. Take some solar panels and a tent!

Great video, thank you. I'm looking at buying one of these and I dropped Engwe a question which they weren't able to really answer. Don't know if you have any thoughts? I want to sit my son on the back (under 25kg) but might want to change the rear rack. On the pictures I've seen there's some sort of wire/sensor on the rear axle. Any idea what this is for and whether it could accomodate one of those racks which bolt on there? I also asked them if they plan on offering different rack options but they said they have no plans, which is a shame, a slection of choices would be great.

Can’t really argue with what you’re getting for the price on that can you. Annoyingly, the ones I like the most are the ones more likely to get pulled over, but this does look decent. Shame they aren’t releasing the M20 2.0 in the UK.. unless that changes, who knows!

That's true. A lot of campsites offer hook ups which can usually power electric heaters so I should changing a big battery would be easy.

That's in the highest assist and in quite heavy, and was taking on a lot of hills, if all depends on circumstances.

You cant say completely legal and then say about the throttle. Its not legal at all then. You can have a throttle in the uk as long as it either only assists you to get going 4mph or assists you to 15.5 mph and then the motor cuts out. You quoted this bike getting up to 25 mph so how can it be legal. This is false advertising and makes people think that they could get one and it be road legal with the throttle and it's not.

Well, Technically it's out of the box legal, I did explain this, I unlocked it so it then becomes not legal but straight out of box it's locked to 15.5mph & the Throttle is disabled so yes it's legal until you unlock the speed and activate the throttle like I did... hope that clears that up.

@SlothyVlogs I'm sorry but the clarification is such that even having a throttle disabled or not is still illegal, because the possibility to use it is still there which is what the law will say, but if you ride safely and don't go mad and at speed the police probably wouldn't stop you.
