Oh yes to have all the family together again; Christmas Eve we had the holy supper, I am of Slovak heritage and my mother would make all things from scratch everything had butter on it😂we shopped at a local Newberry store that was up the front street we walked, bought our tree home with the one sled, walked to church for midnight mass, presents were simple, something you needed and a small toy and yes stockings with a tangerine and those rock candies shaped in trees, Angels , I remember my brother buying my mom what it seem to a gallon glass bottle of the most awful perfume but the bottle was cute, these photos remind me of the day when all the men had a cigarette in their mouth and a bottle of beer in their hand, oh happy days, so fortunate were we family was important and God was not forgotten🙏

Ok, now I want to watch home movies on the wall with the film projector!📽️ This brings back so many memories of Christmas Eve at my grandparents' house each year! They had curtains almost identical to those here! Their Christmas tree was similar also! There were so many things that reminded me of those happy days when my grandparents were still alive! Every Christmas Eve I still slowly drive by their old house and cry bittersweet tears!😭 Oh how I long to go back to that time and place! Thank you for the fond memories!💜

I was born in 1961, I remember having a nice train set like this one. I think the name of the company that made train set like these and the fancy trains that went with the set was Lionel trains, almost realistic looking. I still have a front engine to the set.
@TampaMikeD2 жыл бұрын
Almost positive that you’re right about the name. They were my brother’s, I wasn’t around just yet. He still has the locomotive and a few of the cars. I did get to play with it after arrived and got a little older LOL.

In the 80s, rock legend and model trains enthusiast Neil Young invested a serious amount of money in Lionel to help them upgrade their business for the new times, and even sat on the board I think! :) Over here in Europe, the German Märklin label has enjoyed the same kind of standing with quality models of both trains, stations and other railway gear. They were big around that time (the Cold War years) and I think they're still a major player. These videos are lovely, really a more innocent time. :)
@michaelgmoore5708 Жыл бұрын
Those were American Flyer trains by The A.C Gilbert Co. The most realistic electric trains ever made. Gilbert died and went broke in 1966. Lionel Train Corp. bought them out by just after that time. Lionel makes their Postwar 0 Gauge and new 0 Gauge trains more than ever now. American Flyer Postwar and later are also being made every year now and new toy train clubs are all over the country now. Huge layouts of all the gauges are being built more than ever. Look up the TCA and call them to find out every thing about where clubs and retail train stores are nowadays.
