Enhanced Forest Inventory

The field of forest inventory is truly on the doorstep of a revolution: innovative technologies allow gathering data in a whole new way and more precisely than ever. Laser-based technologies such as aerial or terrestrial LiDAR as well as other instruments measuring internal properties of individual trees are used in research and development projects within FPInnovations and Natural Resources Canada's Canadian Wood Fibre Centre.

I do not understand one thing, TLS, measures heights, volumes, stem profile and so on. Is it also able to shape, on wood density, looks cellular, chemical composition of wood?
