Apparently, black smoke is supposed to represent the society or like the media and public. It represents how the public has a particular vision about Kpop and the Kpop idols, and how the Kpop industry sometimes brings down upcoming artists and engulfs them in darkness and hardships at a young age. So the smoke pulling down on Heeseung at the beginning of the MV is basically representing the hardships Kpop idols have to go through. They try their best to pull themselves up and come out of the darkness being new and young, upcoming idols. Well, this is what I think about the black smoke. Not sure about the other theories out there.
