given-taken is literally the best debut song in kpop

Regarding Drunk Dazed: My understanding from the webtoon (that I'm still currently reading), is that the girl in the dress is the princess that turned them centuries ago. There is also 2 members from &Team that was featured in this MV. I believe K & EJ if I'm not mistaking.

taki is also in the mv but doesn't have a "main" role like ej and k

While they do have a vampire concept you are so right in that a lot of their songs are also about the idol world and what that means for them. They debuted during COVID so Ni-ki who was only 15 could not even go home during breaks. During their first live fan meet/ concert Jake's Grandmother died and he was so far away from his family. There are times when they cry from being overwhelmed by the response from their fans and the things that are happening in their lives. They were even mobbed at the airport before they debuted. Yet they talk about how being in Enhypen is their dream and their fate. They know they have given up a lot but they are doing it willingly. Most Engenes who have been with them from the beginning know how hard their journey has been and that through it all they are so dedicated to us and to becoming the best artist they can become.

yeah, in my eyes both blessed cursed and let me in are at least partially opinion pieces/a look into idol life. I find it very on the nose that they say all those affections at the end of the video while in a box of glass, as if they're dolls. I think the lyrics of blessed cursed are also pretty understandable when applied to the idol lifestyle.

You know rewatching the videos shows how much pre planning their team has done because that fate in the background of Given Taken and that Sunghoon shot in Let me in? Who comes up with these stuff damn

ENHYPEN FEVER: In a moment of infatuation, the Enhypen members “burn” for the object of their desire. Whether this is an innocent teenage crush or something more mature is up for interpretation; however, lines like “because of you my heart thirsts” and “I beg you, do something, anything” are pretty telling. The lyrics play with the idea of push and pull, wanting to have something so badly it burns, being unable to grasp it, and experiencing simultaneous pleasure and pain in that kind of longing. Notable in the lyrics is the subtle way it toys with this idea of want and pain. In the echo of the chorus, the members first say “I want to hold you,” but in the second half, it becomes “I want to suffer from you.” In Korean, the verbs for hold (anda, 안다) and suffer (alda, 앓다) sound very similar, but the metaphor is expanded even further with the fact that “to suffer” and “to know” (alda, 알다) are homophones. When listening, the members could be saying both “I want to know you” and “I want to suffer from you,” because to them those two things are one in the same: to know this person is to condemn themselves to the fire that is consuming them, and yet they still want to touch the flame. What particularly stands out in the otherwise plotless MV is the choreography. With a b-side as smooth as this one is, body rolls come standard. However, Enhypen managed to also expand the motif of touch to the choreography, particularly in a small dance duet between Ni-Ki and Sunghoon in which they push and pull one another without ever actually making contact as the words “I cannot touch you, but I’m drawn to you” are sung. The point dance of lolling the head while hands move around the neck also carries the idea of checking for a fever, and is executed particularly well by both Ni-ki and Jungwon in their respective choruses. The choreo (above all the intense stares into the camera) is what carries the MV, and what hopefully will make for good future stages.

If you're interested in watching Enhypen's dance practices, I do recommend watching their dance practices from awards shows such as their "[2022 MMA] Performance" because you'll clearly see how Enhypen members show off their synchronization and amazing dancing!

En--'s choreo is always so good :') I love watching their performances and performance videos, tho my fav is given-taken :') I also really loved that they gave Niki a chance to shine as a dancer in Fever with that duet dance
@Mak_h36428 ай бұрын
if im not mistaken when they put out a dance practice for drunk dazed they went kinda viral because of the jump. all of them are different heights and like Niki has longer legs and some have shorter yet they were all able to jump at the exact same height. if you pause at the exact moment that they jump you could put a straight line under their knees and they would all be at the exact same height in a straight line (i hope I'm making sense lmao)

If you're interested of diving into their storyline even more, I really recommend checking out &TEAM! The're a Japanese group under HYBE and their storyline is very closely connected to Enhypen's since they're werewolves. Their debut mv is connected to Drunk-Dazed (K and EJ even appeared in the mv) and it's honestly so cool how much their storylines actually have in common. Thank you for the reaction!

Could the Vampire Queen be a metaphor for the industry? You want what it has to offer you such as power/fame but the sacrifices are always extreme which leads to questioning your deal and worth as a person who may have lost his original self or innocence.

The Drunk-Dazed MV connects Enhypen with Hybe's Japanese boygroup &TEAM, who are werewolves. Some &TEAM members are also from the reality show i-Land, and are featured in this MV, hence the werewolf shadows at some point. If you watch the extended version of &TEAM's debut "Under the Skin" (which I highly recommend, I think you will like them), you will see scenes with the same girl at the busstop.

I really appreciate your reaction!! I love the way you broke down their concept and the play on their vampire selves to their idol selves. This is also true for their Japanese brother group &TEAM, which you should totally check out because their vampire vs. werewolves concepts and even music videos tend to crossover. And yes, they are connected to the Webtoons that Hybe's created for them.

ENHYPEN Let Me In: Let Me In (20 Cube) draws attention with its interesting title. Let Me In is the title of a remake vampire movie dated 2010 but the original is based on a Swedish novel published in 2004 and a Swedish movie released in 2008. Let Me In” represents the fact that the vampire would not get into the house if the owner of the house does not let her in (in the movie the vampire was a “she”). Once she enters the house, she remains as the permanent friend of the owner of the house. In the MV, they openly state that they want to be your boyfriend. Are ready for an eternal love bond with a vampire? On the other hand we observe in the MV that “20 Cube” stands for the aquarium they are confined into. Most probably this is a depiction of the restrained idol life in real life and the limited mobility of vampires in their fantasy world for this album. Vampires cannot walk in daytime and generally sleep in a tomb in movies. Even at night they hide in the dark waiting for their prey. In the MV they enjoy running free in a forest. The 20 CUBE in the title of the track is indeed the aquarium or a fish bowl. The fish bowl has various meaning through idioms and metaphor; for example 'fishbowl may mean a situation/environment with no privacy'. This meaning is very relatable for celebs like idols and enhypen is no different. Also, the fish bowl may be trapping the boys or maybe they want to enter the fish bowl. From every point of view, we can see fish bowl or the aquarium as the limitation. The feeling of being limited and trapped, or the feeling of wanting to go inside some place which is out of your boundaries or limits (like the hand against the window in the Given-taken MV).

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Love 'Given-Taken'. Liked hearing your feedback. You make good points. To me they all storyline vampire stuff but yeah it can be both. Sneaky rookies! =0p The idol with the teddy bear is Sunoo. The idol with the bleeding nose is the leader Jeongwan. U were right about Ni-ki. Sunwon is the fire hand scene and the words Fate in blood behind him. In front of the see through mirror /room were Jay and Jake. Heesung is the other member with a thin face that looks like Jake. Drunk-Dazed was disturbing on 1st watch. I was shoock! They remind me so much of BTS with their 1st song. So talented. =0] Sunghoon bias and Heesung wrecker, OT7. Jungwon a fav too. He was my original bias. Like the hair style and color and fits. Dark Moon is the webtoon of theirs. I love seeing their growth and maturity. =0] Hugs. #YouAreEnough --NY USA 2019 Army💟 Yes, Drunk-Dazed is a bop! Love it. Yeah, the MV is disturbing. 😅Besides the fame topic they are talking about the storyline which is they are vampires! The two werewolves are from a Japanese band &Team from HYBE Japan. Enhypen was created via a competition show yep. Four other boys from the same show got placed in HYBE Japan for more training. They participated in another competition show called &Audiiton The Howling. Adore, this group. They are BTS army and love the guys. During I-Island BTS paid them a visit and gave them gifts. Love all their songs I have heard so far. Four members from I-Island debuted in &Team. They also had it rough. They had to do another competition show finding members for their new group. I-Island was interesting but a mess. The fans complained a lot. The agency learned from their mistakes and made the other show better. They remind me so much of BTS with their 1st song. Lots of striking looks in this group. mariagoh said on 10/24/21 I love Enhypen reactions ! all of the four music videos so far are connected and they carry a story line. So to understand more I suggest watching theory videos about each mv so you can understand the meaning of each, since there is a lot you can miss at first. The story line also has a lot to do with different realities and dimensions which is why they differ so much from each other, essentially they are always looking at each other from a different dimension/reality. Anyways thank you for your reactions ! 🤗 Yuri Rahma said on 1/3/23 “Given-Taken” is the group's debut single and title track from ENHYPEN's EP, BORDER : DAY ONE. "Given-Taken" is an energetic pop-hip hop song that expresses the complicated emotions of seven boys standing in the line. The title track refers to the question of whether the members were "given" their debut or whether they had "done it" themselves.

Even though I read the full comic I steel can't connect the music videos, trailers and the comic. SPOILERS AHEAD. Like, the Niki floating thing, why? Isn't his powers related to darkness? In given taken, the one that apears with fire is Sunghoon not Jake. Also, in the tailers Sunghoon wolf form/powers are never mentioned. Also Dardan was never mentioned they seem to be fighting each other. The blood altar and the prince like aesthetic only appeared in one trailer if I'm not mistaken. Really if someone can explain everything to me I'll be greatfull, but now I just feel that Hype just failed to do this properly. I feel like the MVs should be scenes that we don't see in tge comics since the story is pretty much told by Sooha, like the bloody ball in drunk-dazed but the other onee feel better a bit generic, them in the orphanage and stuff.
