I've got this kayak and its great. You can fit a Garmin fishfinder mount in the middle section as well, the big round hole. Fits perfectly in there!

They do! And so does a round base Ram Mount too which is also handy! 😀

Great in-depth video. A great looking kayak. I ordered a kayak not long ago can't wait to get it out on the water. I did order some ratchet stern and bow tie downs at the start of the week from Cornwall canoes and it arrived the next day. Very pleases. Look forward to more of your videos tight lines 🎣🎣🎣

Thank you for this Excellent in depth review. I am looking at a used one here in Australia under a different name “Jet ocean kayaks” identical to yours. Looking at the hull design gives me doubt on stability. Have you tested yours and how easy is it to stand up on if need be? I really value your advice. Kind regards from, Mario.

Thanks for the comment. Whilst the kayak has a good amount of stability whilst sat down paddling / fishing, I wouldn’t class it as being suitable for standing and fishing. You’d want to look at a wider craft and one with a flatter footwell to offer a comfortable platform to stand on.

Hi. What is the purpose of two recesses located just behind flush mounted rod holders? Additionally each recess is surrounded by two moulded brass inserts. Cheers / Bart
@CornishKayakAngler3 жыл бұрын
These are for clamping down the cross bar for a stabiliser kit. The bar sits in the groove and a top bracket attached to the threaded inserts to secure it in position. I’m a strong believer that if you need stabilisers on a kayak then you haven’t got the right kayak for yourself! 😀

Hey I'm struggling to find Ali seats for enigma kayaks? Which seats fit? I've got a cruise angler kayak
@CornishKayakAngler2 жыл бұрын
The Cruise is a very small kayak to put a raised seat on. It raises your centre of gravity by quite a bit and would ruin the stability and handling, particularly in choppy water. It might be just ok on very flat water though. The raised seats are better suited to the wider fishing kayaks, wider than the Cruise Angler or Fishing Pro 10 and 12. You can fit any standard clip in seat to them though and they work fine.

Hi, wonder if you could help me... the weight you said it could take was around 40kg under the load the boat could take, why? I'm 18.5 ish stone and really want a kayak but struggling:( any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
@CornishKayakAngler3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, most manufacturers rate their kayaks max capacity to literally that... the maximum load needed to almost sink the kayak, or certainly to the weight where it becomes not comfortable to paddle! This obviously differs to the recommended paddler capacity for comfortable paddling. As a general rule of thumb - if you see a maximum capacity stated, the max paddler capacity for comfortable paddling will be about 2/3rds - 3/4ths of the way to that weight. So if you are 18.5 stone / 120kg, look for a kayak with a max capacity of 180kg. This will provide a much more comfortable ride and allow some extra capacity for all your gear. As a possible suggestion, take a look at the Feelfree Moken 12.5 V2 as a good option 😀 hope this helps! 🎣

would you recommend this kayak for sea fishing? Is it stable enough for a 85kg person?
@CornishKayakAngler2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s a great kayak for the money for general inshore coastal fishing in calm to moderate conditions. It has a good mix of stability and efficiency through the water so a good all rounder and it would be fine for someone of 85kg in weight.

This is made from low density polypropylene, should I be worried about the plastic used in this build?
@CornishKayakAngler3 жыл бұрын
The Enigma Kayaks are made from LDPE - low density polyethylene. There are pros and cons with any type of plastic used in kayak construction. LDPE is less brittle and more flexible than higher density polyethylene (good for taking knocks and bumps) but it is a softer plastic and less durable than higher density plastics. An LDPE kayak tends to cost less as it’s cheaper to mould with (melts at a lower temp). Without going into fine details of plastic chemistry, for the end user it basically means that you may find the kayak picks up scratches easier over time and may be prone to warping if the hull is not supported properly when in storage. If you are just an occasional kayak user then it’ll be fine and you’ll likely never encounter any issue and see many years of use from the kayak, however if you are planning to use and abuse your kayak week in week out for many years then it is probably worth looking at a kayak made from HDPE but be prepared to pay a higher price.
