Thanks for a great 👍 reaction. This song was released in January of 1994 by the German group, Enigma from their album, Cross of Changes. It is a gorgeous song 🎵 🔥❤️. The filming and cinematography on this is beautiful. It Is my sister’s favorite song and it’s her birthday this month so I’m going to send her this reaction. The hook is sung beautifully by Taiwanese aboriginal singers, the “Amis people chant ("Elders' Drinking Song") is repeated, which opens the song. Difang and Igay Duana, from the Amis, were in a cultural exchange program in Paris in 1988 when their performance of the song was recorded by the Maison des Cultures du Monde and later distributed on CD. The producer of Enigma, Michael Cretu, later obtained the CD and proceeded to sample it. For nearly 30 years I've played this entire CD start to finish at bedtime, maybe once or twice a week, when I'm chilling with a candle burning - quietly. It's heaven for me. It's one of my favorite things in life. I'm so grateful you listened to something so close to my heart, Teez. Seeing this man & woman's life go all the way from elderly to birth is just so beautiful. ❤ Sadness Part 1 is definitely next. 🙌 Amazing! Beautiful!

When I used to visit my Grandfather in a care home who had Alzheimers I would play this song everytime on the way back and I smiled and cried the whole time. It's a song that sticks with me until the end. I miss that man more every day now its hard to listen to it brings back so much memories for me. Rest in peace Jim until we meet again old man.

This begins with the old man's death. It shows his life backwards to let us see what an amazing life he had. The indigenous chanting in the song is Taiwanese and not Native American. I was 10 when this came out. I miss the 90s!!!!! Best hip hop, best electronic music, and like this tune, alot of cultural cross over in the popular charts, which was needed!

You know what I absolutely LOVE about your reaction is you actually let the song play so you can experience it in full. The woman's voice is song by Michael Cretu's wife Sandra from Germany she sang (I'd never be) Maria Magdalena . They live and have there own studio on Ibiza where they make most of al the music of Enigma.

Have the CD this is on & listen often. I once asked a Native American friend about the chant, but she said it has no translation, it is simply reverence for the spirit world that's all around us. Would that we could All return to innocence.✌

I listen to mostly rock and heavy metal but all my true favorite songs are weird songs like this from Enigma I believe music is powerful and can change people and the world... For good or bad.. And right now music has been weaponized against us.. Play this song over a loud speaker every night in the ghettos.. Watch the crime rates drop... I believe it.

Enigma use sample this is not all original. Fact Check the Drum sample from Lez Zeppelin "From the Levee Break" song and the Chant is from the Aboriginal Taiwanese Elder Couple. Look it up. I like the song; but I don't like when they don't give credit to the original.

The group, also known as Enigma, allegedly plagiarized and stole the song Return to Innocence from an Aboriginal Taiwanese Farmer. This farmer was the writer and composer of the song. The original title is "Elders Drinking Song" by Difang. I was disappointed when I came across this information this afternoon. Enigma lost an audience member here.
