Random teenager here. I won't pretend to be one of the people who listened to this song originally. But my dad loved this when he was my age, and it's thanks to him that I'm here. There's this feeling from special kinds of music that you can't find anywhere else. Some day, I want to inspire the same sort of feelings that this did for me and my dad at such different points in time. Love this music.

I firmly believe that someday our lives will be laid out in front of us for us to see and it will probably be explained to us because all we. Did was go through life? We never knew what was going to happen tomorrow but all the crazy things that did happen all the crazy things we learned. All the crazy things we went through and did we'll. Be laid out? For us? And then we'll understand. And we will all meet each other and we will know who we are. It won't be necessary to give out names because we already know that when we meet and I hope everyday of my life this will happen.

The grass always seems greener on the other side..Truth is the internet can be a beautiful source of knowledge and many socially awkward people find friends and comfort online not to mention the aid the internet gives us in emergency situations , recipes ,news, communication, entertainment and of course music....if there was no internet yet someone told you about it you would probably long for it...everything can be used for evil, but dont forget the good....and also remember you can always just turn off all your devices and disconnect for as long as you like,my guess is you wont disconnect for too long because the internet is a huge convenance in your life ...i pray you embrace this privlage that many cant afford to enjoy.. ...God bless you!

Many may not be familiar with his name, but millions across the globe will recognise this Taiwanese traditional singer's voice. A sample of his plaintive Elder's Drinking Song chant was used by Michael Cretu as the backbone for Enigma's Return to Innocence which went on to become one of Enigma's biggest selling singles. However Cretu had not obtained Difang's permission prior to using the chant which prompted a court-case in 1996 that saw the two settle out of court three years later with Difang being compensated. The controversy around the case propelled Difang into the international spotlight, and Dan Lacksman (whose most famous project had been the first Deep Forest album) approached him to produce an album together. Released by Rock Records Japan in 1998 Circle of Life is a mesmerising combination of Lacksman's usual electronic drumloops, ambient synths and sounds carefully constructed so as not to interfere with Difang's heart-felt singing based on traditional Taiwanese songs of love, work and celebration. Slower, more laid-back beats support songs like Visiting Song and the contemplative Fully Laden with Riches with its tinkling piano instrumentation and Difang's characteristic yodelling calls. However the more upbeat tracks like Love Song (with Deep Forest style lead synth-flute) and Working Song (with its dark string theme) are the real highlights of the album. As an obvious reference to the court-case with Enigma, Lacksman made his own, gentler modernisation of Elder's Drinking Song as well as including the original version of the chant unaccompanied on the CD. With the layered and more reverential sound of Circle of Life we see Lacksman mature as a world music producer, in comparison to his previous outings such as Pangea. Difang was a prominent producer and supporter of Taiwanese aboriginal artists. His last work was to be the solo-outing Across the Yellow Earth in 2001, sadly just as Difang was gaining much-deserved international acclaim, he passed away (blood poisoning due to a centipede bite) in March 2002 at the age of 82. His wife who, whose vocals accompanied Difang's chants, passed away a month later.

I'm working on the tow truck and I walked into a gas station and heard this... It literally shook me because this was a song they played while we played and also laid down to in elementary! I had to use my Google search to listen to it and it picked it up.. now I know exactly why I was supposed to hear this again finally!!!

This song changed my Life. I was 15 around the time it was released getting into trouble pretty much giving up on everything and putting stress on my Mother. I've always loved Rap music apart from today's mainstream so never really cared about Enigma back then. Return to Innocence would pop up on the radio quite often. I woke up one morning and turned the radio on and here's this damn song again lol.. I sat there just listening to this song while my mother was doing dishes looking stressed. I started feeling weird I was getting emotional. I got up and helped her and started to realize the importance of taking care of her, being there for Her. Will always love this song

Life has become a machine, working, paying bills, not being able to cover all bills, guns and bombs, profit and greed. It wasn't meant to be like this. I believe everybody should return to innocence. It won't happen but to those who can see it, enjoy it while it lasts.

Your so right, what happened to us all, greed, a person/people define themselves by how much they earn, have you noticed one of the first questions asked is what line of work are you in, you answer, they define you on that one thing, not knowing anything else about you, even if you were doing allot of charity work, in the back of allot of people's minds is the level of money they earn and the higher they earn the more worthwhile it is to hang out with them, it's lunacy.

Its a STOLEN bar song. It is a good song. But you might want to be careful what you invest your heart and soul into. Here's a little fact you should know about this song... That beautiful yodeling sound that you hear, which you and everyone else thinks is so spiritual and lofty and gives you goosebumps ... it was actually an un-compensated audio recording - made by the French Government and stolen by Enigma - of a husband and wife farming couple SINGING A DRINKING BAR SONG in Taiwan!!! The couple were an Austronesian indigenous Taiwanese couple, named Difang and Igay Duana, who were singing the Ami Drinking Song (which is also variously called the “Amis Palang song”, "Weeding and Paddyfield Song No. 1", "Elders' Drinking Song", "Jubilant Drinking Song", or “Sapiliepah a Radiw” in the Amis language), which has about as much spirituality as the ice cube at the bottom of your 5th glass of bourbon. Difang and Igay were never paid ANY royalties for the song while it was blasting from everyone's radios & record players & cassette players & CD players around the globe - even after it was used as the theme song for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta!!! In the late 90s, when neighbors of the couple asked them if they knew that the recording of their voices was a mega hit all over the world, raking in MILLIONS of dollars, the news stunned the couple who had virtually no idea. They sought legal representation, and Enigma and EMI Records were sued for stealing the hook to the song, and they were found guilty. They paid Difang some crap money in a crappy out-of-court settlement under an agreement that there would be no punishment and no further payments. And now everyone has emotional, spiritual, life-changing memories ... from a drunken bar song. Here's a video of the actual couple singing the drinking song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4GufJiOg7-hl7s _________ Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Difang_and_Igay_Duana

I finally understand this song. We must return to innocence. The person who is our true selves,, that is love, peace, joy. The outside world made us accustomed to their ways, their beliefs. There is only one path, that is ours,,. Not everyone else’s. We must follow our own path. From birth we’ve been taught how we should act, what we should believe, what we should think. It’s time to find peace from Within, and be at peace with and love ourselves, forget what everyone else says or thinks. What do you think? I hope this helps someone.

I'm 57 1/2. I haven't lived. For the past 30 years comparing to my goals, I've stagnated, trapped in my timeline. I've done everything 'right' like they told me. The rest depended on decisions others, and not me. I lost the battles for my existence - all which needed others. I. e. I've an empty life. I'd rather had a full life and dead at 45 than the torment of the absents of simple things in life. No pie in the sky, simple goals - all miles too high. Chasing dreams that run faster than me. I begged my younger friends under 30, don't end up like me.

I just spent the last 20 minutes searching different terms to try and find this song again. This was my childhood, it brings back so many memories of simpler times. Before the song had even played to 1:33 I was already holding back tears but when the Native American part started I couldn't hold it back any longer.
