Sorry for answer late, I using PowerPoint 2019 version. You can try this tutorial with other versions of PowerPoint such as 2010, 2016, 365 version. With 2007 version, will have some different cause animation menu layout different..

for select 1 rectangle, just use your mouse click on this rectangle. for select multi rectangles, you can press Ctrl, then click to choose rectangles. Or you can drag mouse to select.

for move text box in PowerPoint, you can use Ctrl + X to cut, after that go to slide you want, and press Ctrl + V to paste. Then, use arrow button on your keyboard to move to position you want.
