Glastonbury, you don't know what you are missing! This World Wide Electronic Super Rock band is one of the best things to come out of the UK. This concert is the by far the best one I've been to in years. DM simply rocked the place. Fantastic crowd and god weren't the boys on fire! I absolutely love the Memento Mori album. Martin, you are a genius! Dave, you are the frontman to match anyone and know how to work an audience (DM followers don't need working though) Ha!. If this band never gets to headline Glastonbury, then there is something wrong with the owners of Worthy Farm and the UK music industry. Yes, they may have been invited before but it wasn't their time (now is). Surely 2024 is the year for Martin, Dave, Peter, and Christian.

They don't need to play Glastonbury when they can tour like this and sell out capacity stadiums in Europe. They have legions of fans who know the songs and appreciate it. They are not really what I would call a festival band anyway, they played Isle of Wight (I think) and people just stood their like statues resulting in Dave getting pissed off.

Most big bands sell out stadiums all over the world and have also legions of fans. they also don't need to play Glastonbury but they do because they get invited. Not everyone knew all 'The Cures' songs when they headlined Glasto and they also didn't need to play. A Glasto crowd is so different than the Isle of White festival. I personally would love to see DM play Gastro. However, DM are unique and as DM fans I think we are so lucky to feel that way about them.

Just a hunch but I have worked at Glasto a few times and apparently they were strongly in the requested artists list. Rumoured to be added to Glasto line up on both of their last two tours and this year things would seemingly line up perfectly timing wise but... think about it from a marketing perspective... as a band what would you do? A. Headline Glasto (play to lots of people yes, the hardcore fans would have to enter the Glasto lottery to see them. The band may convert a few and they would earn less money than their own gigs (ticket sales and merch)😉 OR B. As on previous tour(s) throw a big UK ‘warm up’ ...lots of fans from UK/Europe and beyond with a massive appetite after years, biting at the bit for some live DM. Willing to travel and splash out. Great gigs, great excitement. Great publicity. 10’s of 1000’s of people sharing on social media etc. ...and boom! 💥 there’s your catalyst to help fill the arenas later in the year. 😉

The DM fanbase, while huge, is pretty niche. DM are kinda regarded as the Marmite of the rock world, you either love them or hate them. Glasto needs headliners that appeal to a much wider demographic. Anyway, fuck Glastonbury, Depeche Mode never needed platforms like that, or the self serving hypocrasy of Live Aid back in the day to progress, they just needed the music and the intimate live experience - that's what makes them the mammoth success they are today

DM are global superstars and I've been fortunate enough to see them play a number of times, both in the UK and in Europe, though I don't think The Cure deserve anywhere near the same level of acclaim, and I've never understood their appeal. Their singer sounds like he's whining and looks like a low-budget baddie from a Batman movie.

As for not being able to "handle or swallow them", I have a very eclectic taste in music, though I've never uderstood their appeal at all. As I said previously, from what I've heard, the singer's voice sounds like whining to me. As for the donut comment, I haven't a clue what you're on about. And in regard to Dave Gahan's voice, it's quite usual for vocalists to lose range as they get older, as well as perfect pitch, if you're lucky enough to have it in the first place. Singing for a living takes it toll on any set of vocal chords and it's very rare for singers not to encounter problems over the length of career that he's had.

Whilst good I've seen DM play many times and there is a huge difference between gigs in the UK and Germany. They are appreciated in the UK but worshipped in Germany. Its no coincidence they announce news of new albums and do extensive interviews to the German press 1st. The adoration is off the scale there

I used to drive a taxi in Basildon. Never forget the day I picked up some German tourists, who were fanatical DM fans, from the train station. They wanted me to drive to the houses that the band members grew up in. They even had the addresses of the properties. They got a selfie outside each of them and were getting some funny looks off the locals. Not exactly a very welcoming part of the world.
