Today I went for a challenging hike up a well known spiritual mountain in Kanagawa Prefecture. The name of that mountain is Oyama. Nestled on the edge of a beautiful town known as Isehara, people have been climbing Mount Oyama as far back as the 16th century for religious purposes.
Because of this, there is a beautiful shrine known as the Oyama Afuri Jinja which means rainfall. Apparently farmers would come here and pray but the name afuri means rainfall because apparently this mountain would always have rainy weather. Thankfully it's clear skies for most part today as I hike up Mount Oyama during while enjoying the start of the autumn colors in Japan as the season slowly starts to begin.
