used it for motor project . i gave 5v external power to motor and then gave NodeMCU signal directly (without Resistor ) it worked great. thanks for sharing sir

What situations are good for this transistor approach vs a more traditional relay ? This is to control the start sequence of a generator … part of this is to energize the fuel solenoid AND keep it energized while running … which can be several weeks.

You talked about the spike at 2:35, I’m couldn’t see anything, what should I have been paying attention to? Great video thanks for uploading!

Just make sure that all connections are right

I didn't see it at first either, but it's a blue spark - if you go through the video frame by frame (with the "." & "," keys) you can make it out :)

very important the part for the spike, i need a controller for a solenoid and this part is crucial for me, thank bro ❤

I need to provide 12v switching in an arduino project. Can I do it with Tip120 transistor? base = arduino digitalpin collector= 12v input emitter = 12v output So I will use it like a relay I don't use a relay because I need to make a compact circuit. Is it necessary to use aluminum heatsink?

Yes, you can

this mofset have max 5amp, but you can use another mofset, there is mofset whit max amp 20amp or more, if you need hight voltage / amp maybe is better to use a relays

@@fedeyoutub IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) is the ticket for high voltage/high amp loads.

ok, and what about induced overvoltage that you can have from magnets sticking to the solenoids? how do you protect the circuit from that? magic?

@@EnjoyMechatronics with overvoltage? the diode do not protect from that. maybe protect to inverted polarity

Ive spent all day testing ESP32bluetooth to ESP32Bluetooth to control some 12V Leds The circuit worked fine using the TIP120 at 12V led, But my testing was 12v, and 24v in reality, I tested it at 24v (two LEDs in series) and it didnt work, I scratched my head for hours only to have your video show me ground commoning was needed. As to why this worked with 12v and not 24v without joining the GND between ESP and 24v source I dont know
