It's been 2 days since Enkanomiya got released. I cannot believe how well they pulled the entire map so well. The stuffy, closed off cave at the beggining, the puzzles, the ominous tower, the AMAZING way the gate opens, the candles, the snake statues and the ominous building at the center that's radiating a blinding light... It's amazing. It really set the feeling that you are entirely alone, there is not a single person left in the floating islands. The entire place feels so cold. The music is so emotional and it punches you in the face when you first take a step in Enkanomiya. It's a completely different atmosphere than the rest of the game.

I think listening to this theme and the Liyue battle theme is a good contrast, because while the Liyue battle theme is more cinematic, the Enkanomiya battle theme is more personal. In the Liyue battle theme, you get the sense that you're a general of a powerful army, watching the action from afar, getting reports from strategists, and making important decisions. Or perhaps you're simply a faraway spectator watching the clash of giant armies. But in the Enkanomiya battle theme, you get the sense of a warrior's spirit, as if the music is scored from the perspective of one of the individual soldiers. To me, it's much more serious, and feels like it's grounded in technique and intention in the same way a warrior's movements are. The motif at the beginning of the piece is an alarm, of sorts. A call to arms letting you know that it's time to defend your people. The plucked strings give a sense of the light movements of a confident warrior, familiar with their armor and weapons, making short work individual enemies, but met with a seemingly endless onslaught of them. The various motifs that are added as the piece develops give a sense of switching tactics or adjusting your grip on your weapon. The vocalist that eventually comes in feels to me like when your body begins to tell you you're tired, but you keep in mind what it is you're fighting for, the loved ones at home you're fighting to protect, and you use that inspiration to fuel your warrior spirit. Again, the Liyue battle theme feels like you're watching the battle, while the Enkanomiya battle theme feels like you're living it, and both themes are amazing for different reasons. (Edit: This is a copy-paste of a comment I made on another video. The stuff I wrote here was written with the 1st track in this video in mind.)

Read this as you are listening to the third track (time stamps to mark specific locations in the music) Take your time and visualize! If you reach the end of a section before the next timestamp, simply continue visualizing the previous scene. 7:35 You dive down into the depths of the ocean, bubbles flowing out from behind you. The sounds of the outside world slowly fade away; it is just you, and the water. It is dark, and it only gets darker as you dive deeper and deeper underwater. You reach up, switching on your headlights. 7:46 In the distance, you spot a large network of rusted metal pipes, streaks of metal shining bright against the red brown rust. You swim closer, curious. The pipes were much larger than you expected, and in front of the mouth of the pipe, there were the remains of some stone tablet. Faded scratches were etched into the stone, with a few letters you could barely make out. “-o--o--n-e-.” You frowned. What could it mean? 7:57 Perhaps against your logical thought, you decide to head into the rusted pipe. There is clearly more than one exit, and the pipe is large enough to fit you comfortably. Who knows? Perhaps exploring it would give you answers to what the stone tablet said. 8:06 It’s dark in the pipe, and you switch your headlight to glow brighter. Behind you, you suddenly hear a faint creaking noise. Slowly, you swam around, doing a full turn in the water. The exit had disappeared. You swallow, looking ahead and switching off your headlights. Good. There’s an exit ahead; you can see the faint glow from outside against the tunnel walls. 8:18 You swim ahead steadily, staying as calm as you could. It’s fine; you still have quite a bit of air left. The tunnel is much longer than you thought it would be, and you’re going much slower than you would like to. You swim a little faster, pushing through the water, watching the faint blue light grow brighter and brighter. 8:25 The pipe begins to move around you. You are not sure what is happening at first, but it quickly becomes clear as the light started fading. Your eyes widen, and you push yourself, swimming as fast as you possibly could. Your limbs were burning, like they were on fire. But it wasn’t enough. You were slammed into total darkness. 8:32 Panic rises in your throat, and you push it away, turning on your headlights again. There was a turn in the tunnel ahead. Surely, if you kept following the tunnel, it would lead to an exit. You keep swimming, watching the air in your oxygen tank slowly drop. You breathe lighter; although you have quite a bit left now, there was no telling how long it would take to find your way out. 8:42 Suddenly, the rusted metal of the pipe slams into you, a loud, grating screech echoing through your skull. You pushed away, slamming into the other side of the pipe. Kicking off the side, you swim forward, spotting the exit ahead. You kick off, swimming towards it as fast as you could, even faster than before. You were pushing off walls, desperately clawing your way through the pipe, kicking as hard as you possibly could. 9:02 You can see the light right in front of you, even through the blinding glare of your headlights. You push forward more, and your legs start to hum a quiet protest, a steady burn. You push, forcing yourself to continue. The tunnel begins to move once again, but it doesn’t matter; you propel through the water swifter than the fastest fish in the ocean. It doesn’t matter that your oxygen would be gone soon. You would be out, and far, far away. 9:22 You are not fast enough. The exit closed up, merging with another pipe. Adrenaline was still rushing through your veins, but you could not afford to keep racing through the waters. You start to feel the weight of the water and your gear weighing down on you, dragging you down. Your arms and legs start to give up, even as you swim through the pipes slowly. But you must persist. You must continue to hope, and keep pushing onwards. 10:06 The low air indicator on your tank beeps. You are too exhausted to continue. You curl up, setting on the “floor” of the tunnel. Which way was up again? 10:17 Perhaps you would die here. In fact, it was very likely. You did not want to die like this, completely powerless. 10:28 The oxygen you have finally runs out. You are living entirely on borrowed time. It would be nice, to see the open sea again, and maybe see the sky before death came. But that was impossible now; all you could bear to do is stay in one place, curled up. 10:38 Your body fights for air, and you struggle. The water is pressing to hard against you, and your vision was starting to spin and blur. You grip the metal pipe as tight as you can with poofy, scuba-diving gloves. 11:00 Through your blurry vision and your horrible headache, you see the tunnel ahead of you move, revealing an exit. You crawl towards it, on your hands and knees. No one could save you, but perhaps you could still... try... Your head throbs, and your vision is spinning with black dots. Is there one exit? Or two? There is an exit. That’s all you know. You go forward... one step... another... 11:33 Your body slowly sinks through the water, resting on the ocean floor. Perhaps the sign at the entrance had said, “Do not enter.”

I'm just so peeved, really - 3:07 onwards in the first battle theme is SO GOOD, but unless you purposely run around like a headless (pacifist) chicken, you'll never hear it, not ever: encounters in Enkanomiya (or actually, more like in general) are not meant to last that long. Honestly, I'd really want them to add a roguelike domain like the Misty Battlefront one _in Enkanomiya,_ where the battle theme would just loop throughout the dungeon (like it did in Misty Battlefront). Imagine it as you listen to the pieces (1-2 expecially; 3 is good but would give me anxiety lol).

For this reason I’ve been exploring Enkanomiya primarily with my unbuilt and newer characters. Mostly Chongyun(Level 60 with level 3 normal attack) and Shenhe at the moment.
@heroofkokoto47072 жыл бұрын
@@gyannunez Wholesome team choice, haha. Family bonding time! I love that they work well together. That's definitely a solid plan to keep the experience fresh (I may consider doing it too in the future), but at the same time, I also do enjoy playing with my favorite characters when casually doing overworld, so I am a bit torn about it. Oh, well! "Pick your poison", I suppose?
@el_latte2 жыл бұрын
I purposefully used only 3 characters (Ittou, Gorou, and Sayu) while exploring and also reserved my Itto's burst for tough enemies like large Vishaps or Ruin Graders only. It definitely made me appreciate the OST, the environment, my attack animations, and the enemies a lot more. And I got a lot more playtime as well instead of blitzing through everything. That and the fact that I walked (or glided) anywhere instead of teleporting also helped the experience. 9.8 / 10 area mihoyo, the only downside being the unskippable day-night cutscene and the day phase being underused.

@thebluescaptain2 жыл бұрын
It's been like that since ever, that's why miHoYo keeps doing concerts, behind the scenes, and Yu Peng Chen's demo. The music is what pulled people to play. It brings difference, because other games musics are kinda "meh".
@joshuadavey6502 жыл бұрын
@@thebluescaptain what about these beautiful regions aethetic. Also people pull characters for their aesthetics and personality too music plays an important part sure but it's not just music that carries genshin. It's also the areas, exploration, new characters, lore etc
@thebluescaptain2 жыл бұрын
@@joshuadavey650 Genshin's music is Final Fantasy tier, and you know these games have completely next tier of complexity. Look at Mario or Spyro. These games only used basic kiddy sounds and that's it. Not saying it's bad, but you'd notice the difference already. In terms of aesthetics, Undertale has ultra basic aesthetics, yet it's very popular, even people kept playing their music. Aesthetics is important, but it's easily imitated, unlike music. You really need actual taste to create classy musics. Final Fantasy hired Uematsu Nobuo, which is considered "The Beethoven of Video Games". I don't think you would be called Beethoven if your music sounds like Sunday morning cartoon. Yu-Peng Chen isn't at his level yet, but he's getting there. However, he's experienced and miHoYo don't pay him cheap definitely. Oh, lastly, I wanna talk about DOOM game, which is composed by Mick Gordon. Look at DOOM Soundtracks, even there are jokes like "Damn, this $60 album comes with a free game". Most of them aren't even Doom players, they just came to vibe. So yeah, music is slightly (not too much, mind you) more important, because it would promote the game better.
@joshuadavey6502 жыл бұрын
@@thebluescaptain true but what I am saying is these games are almost good at its core. FF, doom, genshin has addicting gameplay, their lore is interesting yes doom eternal lore is interesting to me and the soundtracks just made these game experience even better.

Enkanomiya sounds more magical than Mondstadt tbh
@Cranefeathers2 жыл бұрын
@@CarassiusAu thats why i said "more like", not exactly the same. Enkanomiya is a dead civilization, while Mondstadt is a lively city. Its supposed to sound magical and dreamy My point is that Enkanomiya soundtracks sound nothing like the rest of Inazuma soundtracks, despite being a part of the Inazuma region. And its not just the soundtracks either. Enkanomiya's architectures and naming patterns are undoubtedly based on European culture and myths (Greek, to be precise), unlike the Japan-based Inazuma This makes alot of sense considering its connection to Mondstadt (another European culture-based region with tons of usage of Greek terminologies) through Kairos/Istaroth, and consequently Venti/Barbatos
