Isn't there a joke about 3 lieutenants at a river. They find a genie. Last one wishes to be smarter do he becomes a sergeant, looks at his map and finds a crossing 200 yards up river? I can't recall the joke.
@harshbansal79824 жыл бұрын
@@thes.a.s.s.1361 I think the joke was that lieutenants confront a river and have to cross it. . Then some genie appears and tells them he’ll give them something to help them cross it . First one asks for really strong arms but he drowns anyway . Then the seconds asks for a small boat but it sinks . Then the 3rd asks for a sergeant who tells him to look at his map and the lieutenant realises there’s a bridge 200 yards from here .

Facts: PFC - you should obtain coming out of boot camp, top bad ass will graduate LCPL, that won’t be you. By the time you finish Combat Training or your MOS, kick ass and you’ll graduate LCPL. Keep kicking ass getting more certifications and you’ll be recommended for NCO school and become a CPL. At this point, everyone knows the fastest way to rank up from here is becoming a DI, RECON, or some sort of instructor at the least. Above all, combat tours will rank you up. Staff Sergeant will be your highest rank until you learn to play politics and make the right moves. Gunnies are old for a reason and command/deserve full respect! Everything after that you won’t see much, they’re always dealing with officers. First Sergeants are cool, highly intelligent, but still tap dance higher rank officers. Don’t Fck with WOs and CWOs, they all have psychological problems. The only thing worse than all the above, WOMEN MARINES! Stay away at all costs! Even from the few cool ones. You’ve been warned!

Learn something new every day. I never knew that Master Sergeant in the Marines was a different career path. The Army (which was my branch) has the Master Sergeant which transitions to First Sergeant. After a tour as a First Sergeant, you would transition back to Master Sergeant until either being promoted to Sergeant Major or retiring. The Army then has another Sergeant Major rank , Command Sergeant Major and then CSMA (CSM of the Army). All three Sergeant Major ranks are the same grade (E9).

It would be interesting to know the difference between a commissioned and non-commissioned officer! If my info is correct the former is the higher officers and later is the lower officers. What does it take to become a commissioned officer and non-commissioned? Mind you I am a swede so I have no idea how the military is in the US!
@lyndonmoore62863 жыл бұрын
Non-commissioned officers are enlisted, that did not go to officer candidate school, usually they joined without much college under their belt. Commissioned officers went to officer candidate school, and have at least a 4 year degree. Usually they are book smart but lack common sense. While the enlisted aren’t always book smart, but can figure just about anything out in a pinch. Black chevron mafia.

Their is one rank left out senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff this is equivalent to Sergeant Major of the Corps except instead of reporting to the commandant of the corps SEAC reports to the Chairman of the joint chief of staff and the duties are similar except it is to represent all the enlisted personnel across all branches. one marine has held the post SgtMaj Bryan B. Battaglia from 2011-2015. Of course no marine rank insignia the rank insignia is three chevrons four rockers and the eagle from the flag of the joint chiefs of staff with a stars on each side of the eagle on the top bottom left and right. The insignia was not introduced till 2020.
