My husband's favorite movie, we loved it, and the theme song "our" song... He just passed away almost 3 months ago, and the music and movie are so special to me ... We had played it at our wedding 26 years ago, and on our wedding DVD, playing alongside pictures of us before the wedding starts...Very hard to listen to now, of course... We were poor growing up in Ireland during the second world war. No money for toys or presents. My brother found an old projector . Went to the local Cinemas and collected Discarded strips of film. Sometimes glued them together. What fun and surprises as one Minuit we would be watching Cowboys and the next a gangster scene. He loved the flix as we called films. Perhaps in another life he will get his wish to be in film. .........Love you Michail

I worked as a projectionist at a fine arts cinema when this film came out in 1988. I would stand in the back of the theater and watch the last few minutes of every show as Salvatore views the film reel left to him by Alfredo. My eyes would fill with tears just as Salvatore's did. This is such a beautiful film and truly exquisite and poignant soundtrack.

"Ennio. The first note I ever heard of his grabbed hold of me and wouldn’t let me go. I never decided to become a film composer. Ennio and Sergio Leone did that for me, letting me experience their magic. Ennio taught me that the simplest, purest and honest melody is the hardest to write. That it’s not supposed to be easy, that it’s a profound mission we are on that we must take seriously and humbly when we write music. And that our job is to be the director’s best friend and inspire him. A good conductor breathes with the orchestra as one. Whenever you hear his pieces now, you will still hear his breath... you might not see him... but you will always hear him... Ciao, Maestro!" Hans Zimmer

Ennio Morricone, who died today in Rome, wrote his own obituary yesterday. Tomorrow it will be published in all main newspapers in Italy. "I, Ennio Morricone, have died. I’m announcing my death to all my friends that have always been close to me and to those who I haven’t seen for a while. I salute them with great affection. Impossible to name all of them. I do want to dedicate a special mention though, to Peppuccio and Roberta, brotherly friends, extremely present in these last days of our life. There is only one reason that pushes me to send my farewell to all of you in this way, and for which I’ve decided to have a private funeral: I do not want to disturb. I say goodbye with great affection to Ines, Laura, Sara, Enzo and Norbert, thanking them for having shared with my family and me a big part of my life. I want to remember with love, my sisters Adriana, Maria and Franca and their loved ones and let them know how much I’ve loved them. An intense, full and profound goodbye goes to my children Marco Alessandra, Andrea and Giovanni, my daughter in law Monica, my grandchildren Francesca, Valentina, Francesco and Luca. I hope they will understand how much I’ve loved them. Last, but not least, Maria to whom I renew the extraordinary love that has kept us together and that I really regret leaving. I send my most painful farewell to her."

Trop beau...Trop vrai! Un vrai chef-d'oeuvre.🥰

I’m 68 years old and even though I watch this film with English subtitles, ( being English)!, it’s still my favourite EVER film, the story, the acting and obviously the music. I laugh, I cry, I love.

What an amazing movie. I saw it over 39 years go when my wife and I went to the cinema. None of the movies sounded good so we asked. The young woman in the booth said that many people were raving about the forest language film called “Cinema Paradiso” Probably one of the best pieces of advice I have ever received. All the people in the theater sat through the credits. It was impactful.

Thank you Ennio Morricone wherever part of heaven you are now...May angels enjoy with you playing for them at this moment...

One of the best soundtracks of all time. Remarkable structure, pitch, melody and tone, an achievement of epic proportion, the maestro will be sadly missed. Viva Ennio who captured the real essence of Sicily in this music score. I continue to admire his work. Un grande saluto all'maestro...!!!!!

Buen viaje, genio.
