The line "petrichor-stained destiny" goes super hard. Not only does it sound great, but the lyrics themselves are really clever: For anyone who doesn't know what petrichor is, it's the term used to define the scent that typically accompanies rain - humans are also EXTREMELY sensitive to it, to the point where we're 1000 times more sensitive to the smell than sharks are to the smell of blood. The implication that you've managed to come this far and face the all-powerful god of creation itself because they specifically laid everything out in just the right way to instinctively draw you to your final destination like a shark smelling blood in the water is so cool

one of my favourite lines is “twisted garden, laced with power” because it really shows the contrast between delicate flowers and the indescribable power of nameless deity and the feeling that brings. “laced with power” makes it feel like raw power is delicately woven into the garden, interlacing the flowers, perfectly balanced and symmetrical, practically indestructable.

In a way, this song not only represents the Player progressing, but Terraria as a game. When it first came out 12 years ago, it had nothing more than a few bosses and basic building mechanics, where people struggled against the Eye of Cthulhu and the final boss was Skeletron. But now, look how far we've come. Terraria isn't some small sandbox with basic mechanics and a few bare bones bosses anymore. It's a massive game, and a testament to what a small game can become given enough time and hard work. A game with a massive following and with countless mods that rival or even surpass the quality of the base game itself. And then there's us. When we first started playing this game years ago we all probably struggled against even the Eye of Cthulhu, barely scrapping by as the blood moon came down upon us and we were forced to barricade our houses for the night. But now? Everything in our path has fallen before us, Not just the Eye, but the very gods that claimed this world as their own. We've torn through armies of Goblins, Pirates and Aliens like nothing, and even reduced Draedons most powerful war machines to nothing but slag and molten iron. And now, with everything we've gained, we only have one more challenge ahead of us. The almighty himself. Xeroc, king of the gods, and the final obstacle standing in our way.

After all, I didn't know the vision the game was meant to have. If we weren't to consider the vast knowledge of practically all of creation I had at my fingers, the only thing I knew was that I was powerful, and I needed to make a Game. So, I made several things powerful as well, assuming there were things other than the Terrarian who were supposed to be powerful enough to survive a test from me. When they recognized the unbalance, which I'm surprised they didn't immediately recognize, now that I think about it, they went and tried to fix it as soon as possible. A reasonable response, though their methods of achieving this, are not so much. First, they attempted to delete me. As you can see, that didn't work so well. Then they took the assets from my universe and formed a completely new universe, reworking everything, from gameplay to lore. I guess they needed something to replace me, and they created Xeroc to do that. I turned what little I had left of my universe into the Twisted Garden, and changed my name to Nameless Deity, allowing differentiation between me and Xeroc. And thats that! That is the reason why me and Xeroc are different entities." _Nameless Deity closes the book and tosses it away. It bursts into Stardust upon hitting the ground._ "Anything else you'd like to know? With how little there is in the Twisted Garden, I don't have anything better to do than to provide information."

The thing that I love about the Nameless Deity is that is feels more like fighting a true capital-G God than virtually any other "god boss" in video game history. It is esoteric, inscrutable, and has a pervasive sense of being beyond us to a point we simply cannot fathom. Clearly it is holding back, able to immediately obliterate our character on every level on a whim, yet its goals are to "test" us, so it uses only a portion of its power...And still wields abilities unlike anything else in the game or any other mod. It can spontaneously create stars and accelerate their life cycle to mere seconds, move entire frickin black holes, shoot a colossal beam that appears to be MADE OUT OF ANOTHER UNIVERSE, and completely override the game's mechanics and fundamental rules. This is it HOLDING BACK...And it is phenomenal. Excellent work to the mod developers, you have created something that is now a benchmark of quality for video games as a whole!

@@altlol8856 I don't really like it compared to the "unfinished" version, no. The vocals in some places sound like they were rerecorded, or mixed differently in a way that makes them sound like they have less impact. There are a few sections where they sound better, and the backing instrumentation helps, but overall, the song feels less impactful as a boss theme. During Genesis, they decided to put the percussion at the forefront of the track, making it sound louder than the synth(?) that makes up the main melody, and this just takes me out of it. I love DnB, but this seemed like an odd change choice to me. The song could have ended at 4:30, and it would have been alright. I think I still would have preferred the "unfinished" version, but it still would have stood out to me more than this extension does, because everything after 4:30 feels repetitive and like it drags on for too long without doing something different. Then when it finally ends, it ends as abruptly and anticlimactically as possible, with the glass shattering and glitchy sounds. The unfinished version made a much bigger lasting impression with its ending because of how it seamlessly transitioned into the piano melody at the end... that they, for some reason, chose to move to the beginning. I know they kept the melody at 4:19, but they replaced it with a daintier sounding piano, again sounding less impactful. Overall, this version isn't a bad song by any means. It IS good. But it just feels like they took a lot of the good things that the previous version had and either removed them or changed them instead of expanding on them. I'm not even sure how well this version would loop, or how it sounds in the boss fight since I haven't fought Nameless yet, but I'm not particularly excited to find out.

As a newbie to Calamity, Wrath of Gods, and, tbh, Terraria as a whole (I've played it since i was young, but never really played it in the intended way, and if i did, it wasn't modded), may I say, Wrath of Gods is easily one of my favorite mods ever. Perhaps, in all honesty, one of my favorite "video games" (counting it, calamity, and this). This is my first real Calamity playthrough, and I've just beaten Destroyer and Twins, and seeing the Noxus Eclipses is the coolest damn thing. I pause everytime it happens and go to wherever I can to see it best. Hearing the theme in the first place is what got me back into Terraria, because I thought it was so amazing. I really love this kinda extended version of it, and the different sections it outlines. 'Seraphic,' 'Depravity,' 'Genesis,' 'Extirpation.' Dude, this is just baller as hell, and I commend y'all greatly.

whoa! this is really awesome, and the official release was definitely worth the wait! i love the slight tweaks made to the original song used in the mod, and i love the fact that every section even has a name! even the INTRO to the song is HEAVENLY!! this visualizer is also REALLY well done too, even though it's so trippy i can't even tell what's going on for the most part lmao (also, i think i saw the old nameless sprites somewhere in there) the only criticism i have is relating to the final section (4:33), where it feels kind of empty, and quickly loses its charm after the first loop or two of the same couple of sections, though maybe i'm missing out on something since these are my first thoughts on this version of the song criticism aside, you two did a really great job, and i can't wait to see what other songs come out from you two!

I'm pretty late, but I LOVE the concept of The Nameless Deity. A being so far up the scale of power, it simply isn't named. It doesn't NEED a name, It doesn't even need a FACE, its godly stature and enigmatic nature is what cements it in your mind forever. This theme screams of absolute peril from both sides. "There are things in this world that you're not meant to see." Really sells the feeling that you're doing something you shouldn't. That you're truly tampering with powers beyond your comprehension, yet with that same stoic attitude that got you here in the first place. Speaking of that same stoic attitude, I'm glad the Terrarian got their own segment in this song, showing that this isn't a hopeless struggle against an inevitable defeat. And the LYRICS to this song?? Holy shit I CANNOT stop listening to them. This is an absolute masterpiece. Amazing work!

I love the lyrics. They seem to specifically mention H.P. Lovecraft's Yog Sothoth story with some of the lyrics, for example near the beginning with the lyric "You feel above yourself." This references the feeling that the narrator feels above everything when near the final dreamworld, or "When you ascend past yourself you will gaze down below, a reflection of exactly how far you've come." References being at the final gate in Yog Sothoths court and seeing every journey before and after. These hidden details make me appreciate this song SO MUCH more. I really love all these references, and on top of just making it sound amazing!

3:22 This is my favorite part of the song hands down, because the mental image it creates is just so visceral. I picture two visages of Xeroc, the god and the devil, just intertwinging, merging and splitting, like a discordant caduceus, almost dancing in the most vile yet beautiful way possible. It makes it feel like whatever's behind that black rectangle is not so much a face but more of a collection of ideas of good and evil bubbling like magma.
