The subdivision that was added & stopped water flow off the hill should be held responsible for not planning it right & be responsible for fixing it

that's what I was thinking too. Maybe it's an engineering issue. I get it I wouldn't want to lose a family established area like that either but rebuilding every time I'd say it's enough. I hope that somehow that subdivision is held responsible for this. Maybe you guys need legal action against the developers and it's a group action. I have no idea but I'm behind whatever you do. Good luck, Lester.

This is such a tough one. There is what should happen, that the developers and government fix the problem they caused but that may never happen. That leaves what can happen, each family is going to have to decide how they deal with it. Can the houses be protected, can equipment be bought to evacuate the livestock. Do you turn the lowest pastures into hayfields so fences aren’t continually needing to be repaired after floods… So many tough decisions and for some the right answer may be to relocate. Your family has something so special. I hope whatever the long term solutions are chosen that you don’t lose that closeness

Lester, The housing developers are hoping the "old-time" landowners get frustrated enough with the flooding and you'll give up. Then they can come in and purchase your land. Then they'll develope your property just like they did the surrounding properties.

I am so with you on this one Lester. I keep telling my hubby about you all and what you are going through. I have told him how can the Morrow family keep living there when this flooding is now going to be your norm, sadly enough? I have watched the heartache and stress of this flood, not only on the humans but the animals. I was feeling so heartbroken when I watched your mother, Gigi, sit with her head in her hands and saying "I can't keep doing this" or something similar to those words. I felt her despair coming right through my computer screen. I am at a point in my life that I am very tired physically and emotionally. I deal every single day with health issues that will go with me to my grave, so I am sooooo tired. I found that I was exhausted and burdened for you all. The fatigue on you all was showing. You have your plates so full every day with just taking care of your families, properties, and animals BUT to do the clean up after the flood just seemed to push everyone over the top, and rightfully so. I could not do it Lester, no way. You all are in a very difficult spot now and I am so very sorry. I am thinking that the Morrow family has got to be the hardest working family ever, and the way everyone stepped in to help was highly admirable. Love and prayers to you all.

Class action against the greedy ignorant poli-ticks that directly caused these floods. Who surveyed before all the development and building that giant funnel into your properties.. process of discovery would hold those responsible accountable and force them to correct their greedy errors. The "long game" would be time consuming and frustrating but you may save your lands in the long run. How many First Nations communities have been flooded for "progress" of invading profiteers before society said it was wrong.

RESEARCH what other communities affected in the same way, have done. I'd be going to every single city counsel meeting, writing letters, contacting your congressmen, and insist that they provide for drainage and hold the developments responsible. I would get everyone that has been effected swarming the city offices until somebody listens. Invite them to your farm so they can see for themselves the damages that you are having to go through due to the nearby developments. Hire an engineer to investigate and create a report that shows how the nearby developments are affecting all your properties and those of your families.

I live in an area where 2 rivers meet and flow out to the ocean. You could say we live in a series of islands surrounded by water. I suggest that you build a levee system that protects your family homes. This is a very large city and it's protected by levees. Can't just pile up dirt, you need layers of clay and soil. A cut is made down the center of the levee and is filled with concrete. Look into levee construction.

I remember you, Lester, taking us on a drive, showing where housing was going to be in the very near future, the catch ponds taken away, with housing in it's place, and how water was going to be rerouted in a much smaller scale to the river. I live in Sacramento, ca and we had a creek that flooded houses every bad winter. Finally the state stepped in and fixed the flow of the water, and no floods since. But people did raise their houses 8 feet. The state helped them pay for it. I would say start talking to your government and maybe a class action suit to get the government to fix it. I would maybe think it’s about time. Bless your family and may they find the funds to rebuilt up higher.

Besides the runoff from the development it doesn't help that the Water Authorities are releasing water from the dam/lake to flood the San Jacinto and Trinity Rivers without realising or caring about the impact it's having on the lower lying communities living down those rivers (ISS included). Most of the water in the dam/lake comes from the north. Maybe they need to build more water catchment areas up north to hold the water instead of flooding everyone in the south. It's not just a local government concern it should be a state wide concern. If richer areas were being flooded I bet the government would soon be stepping in and coming up with solutions real fast. People who have lost homes not from recent flooding but the past as well need to write to the state government to get them to solve this problem.

Lester I have been through many hurricanes. I helped protect my parents house when I was young. When I got married and had my own home, I had to learn how to protect my home. Sand bags saved our home many times. I'm not talking about just a couple of bags. We built a levee with sandbags. Sometimes the hurricanes were more severe and the levee had to be at least 4 foot tall completely surrounding the house. That's a lot of work. June 1st starts the hurricane season and we would already had started our levee. My husband came up with the idea of leaving the sandbags there and make a permanent wall with cement. He then dug a way for the water to go down further redirecting the water. I know that Louisiana builds levees (flood walls) because they are below sea level and flood all the time. I know it sounds like a big project but a 5foot sea wall (river wall) and digging a route to carry the water further down the river might be a big help.I live in a building now for the elderly/disabled. My husband passed away 6yrs ago. I don't worry about hurricanes or flooding anymore. Well I just make sure I have enough food/water. You can look up how to build the levees. Look into Louisiana's levees. I really think this might help.

That means each family has trailors to transport animals. 2024 will be a very wet year. We don't know what next year will bring. No quick answers. They know. They don't say it out loud but the flooding after the development was built is a feature, not a bug, possibly a surprise feature but a feature for them all the same. Old timers get squeezed out and then the developers can charge in flush with donation monies, kick backs and "favors" for those with the power to rubber stamp the permits. The increase in housing increases the municipalities tax base and allows for higher consumer activity in the area (more taxes) which further motivates the powers that be to look the other way. Follow the money. It's always about money.

They can require developers to build retention ponds in the neighborhoods they build and make them pay a huge penalty for past infractions that will be used to remediate the current issue. If you do decide to move or relocate the Sanctuary, you might be able to turn the pastures and/or properties into farming hay, or other crop(s). At LEAST with that, you would be able to have an INCOME from the property, which could benefit your family, until other solutions are found.

I live in North BC, grew up here. For the first 50 yrs, I do not recall a wild fire of note/alarm around here or fire bans for that matter. Now it's been almost a decade of yearly fire bans and wild fire evacuations, summer is now referred to as smoke season... I feel you, enough is enough!

As long as PawPaws heart is his family and home, I don’t believe he’ll ever agree to leave. The younger family members have a better chance financially and spiritually to go to higher ground to rent or buy. What LE said also sounds really good. Perhaps all of you could buy a large acreage elsewhere and move the portable homes and animals there. My being 75 I really can relate to how PawPaw feels ❤️🌻👍 Extremely difficult situation. Lots of people want you to go after the property developers but as we’ve been told about changes in the world wide weather patterns, how do we sue Mother Nature. Jamie even said the rains are all extremely heavy.

Agree! Enough is enough! Get the Plum Grove community together and take it to the authorities that be. It would be sad to leave family property, but what could you do but expect to flood every time it rains?! 😔 I pray for the best for all of you and I’m always praying that the authorities will do what’s needed and what’s right by you and all the families affected. They won’t do anything unless the community gathers together and demand action…we hope and pray! 🙏 Love and prayers for y’all!

Many people think climate change mainly means warmer temperatures. But temperature rise is only the beginning of the story. Because the Earth is a system, where everything is connected, changes in one area can influence changes in all others. The consequences of climate change now include, among others, intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, catastrophic storms and declining biodiversity.

There is no where in the country that you can go to escape weather disasters. Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, extreme cold, floods, drought, wildfires, wherever you go there is a threat. One thing to think about us maybe Morrow hill isn’t the place for a sanctuary. Maybe just have a couple of animals instead of 50-60 in a flood zone. But I think it’s too early to think about giving up on Morrow Hill.

❤🎉😢 Many tough questions Lester, yes. But even selling -- what's the effect on property values with all the flooding?? Maybe it's a question of too many animals on the Hill. After all (and not being crass at all -- we all love the animals) the animals are not necessary to people's livelihoods... they are pets... 😢 Such dilemmas it's gut wrenching to see. So much stress upon stress to people and animals alike. And what is all the flooding doing to the health of the pastures... I dunno.. We must pray for Morrow Hill, it is drenched not only in flood waters but in too many tears ar this point. We love you all Lester, may God give you strength and wisdom. ❤️🙏😢

The question is not enough is enough it’s your ancestral home is where all y’all grew up where you lived your entire lives and I do believe that the flooding is happening more often because all of the development that’s happening around you and sad to see the government doesn’t give a damn about people. They only care about profit how much money they can put into their pockets, I just wish I hope and I pray that eventually your family can come to an understanding as to how to evacuate when God forbid it’s necessary to buy. There wasn’t a way to waterproof your houses so water can’t get in. God bless I hate to make this decision. I hope y’all have a beautiful safe and dry day❤😊

It's heartbreaking to see your Family's Ancestral Estate being swept away and devastated by flood waters. Someone needs to recognize this issue is directly related to the county approving the plans for this development 💰. This flooding never existed prior to the County allowing the Developer💵 to alter natural waterways, runoff, elevation grades never considering the consequences. I've mentioned before. Wondering if anyone reported this to the Army Corps of Engineers? They are above the county. Governor? 🙁
