@nurb101 good point. I'm a christian BTW. I suppose that answer would very but "invalid" is not exactly the term a southern baptist would use. The way I see it, the Jews did not have the knowledge of jesus' first visit, meaning the new testament base commandment "love your neighbors as yourself/love God above all" could not be used until the prophets prophesied of his ascension- and not used practically until Christ preached. So, the 10 commandments were the most watered down version of "sane"

If you like Carolla, I'm just pointing out he's a Dennis Prager fan these days. Prager and Carolla also have public discussions together and a lot of the same fans. Carolla is an atheist, but he respect religion more than his radio persona shows. He was once picketted by Westborough Baptist Church and GLAAD at the same time. I wish I had that on my record, with both of these close-minded groups.

You say that like reflecting on the writings of C.S. Lewis will somehow convert atheists. I have read tons of books and watched debates on both sides of the argument and I have never seen even one compelling argument for the existence of a God. Adam may be an atheist, and for fine reasons too, but just because he has not done research does not mean other atheists haven't. In fact, most atheists I have seen have read more religious holy books and know more about religions than its own adherents.

Every single religion has people who say "I'm right, no need to think." It's true for Jews, Muslims, Christians, and atheists. "I'm an atheist, I'm right, I don't need to think or reflect on C.S. Lewis. He disagrees with me and therefore he's wrong. Christopher Hitchens is the only person I read." Instead, people should be more like Hitchens and read the stuff they disagree with. Carolla is wrong by implying that atheism is different from the other religions.

Also, can people please stop with the "Atheism is a religion too"? We have no doctrine, no divine commands, no holy book, no prophets, and are willing to change our position based on new evidence. And the reason most people are atheist is because we HAVE in fact though about it. Other people have presented us with claims, we have pondered and investigated them and found them to be unverifiable or altogether false. Religion says read this book and believe every word of it without investigation.

Well you do fit the stereotype in at least one way. That is, by not understanding sarcasm. My point is if some people are having abortions and having less children their genes as well as their social values and culture will eventually be bred out. Versus ignorant or naive people who don't use protection and don't get abortions. In today's society intelligence and realism is no longer a direct survival advantage, rather it seems to be a barrier to reproductive success.

ok, my question 2 religious people is, who created god?.... my question 2 atheist is if u don't believe in a higher power then how do u think life came 2 be?... because 2 me the evolution theory sounds just as far fetched as god does. i was raised 2 believe n god but every time i ask these questions nobody can seem 2 answer them, this shit bugs me out sometimes. i would just like 2 here what other people feel about this.
