Hi Nora, you English seems fine! The harp that is usually called 'gothic' (which is not right. Versari is the first person to use the term gothic in architecture, and he uses it for the old style of round arches)is certainly the general style in use but it does not arrive in the shape of the one the player is using. Earlier, it has a different shape, and in very last years of the 15th C, you only see them in iconography with rectangular, not oval boxes. That shape is more typical of the 16th C

What type of harp could you suggest for her? In this video they are mostly playing music from the 14th century - i think that her harp in gothic style is quite perfect for this... I don't know very well the chronological evolution of the other instruments we can see here, but i don't think that it's a sacrilege... I see that you're a specialiste of harps. Can you clarifie your comment, please! It's a very interesting question! (and sorry for my poor english!) Greetings. Nora

I am not just being mean.... there is very much a tendency for harpists to say I have an early harp, I can use if for anything in a 400 year period, but instruments were changing so much in different parts of the world. I find it very sad that whilst players of other instruments will have more than one instrument for different periods and places, harpists in general don't think it matters, but the point is the shape changes mean stringing changes, and so sound changes with it. I think it matters

well, it might be great to have different autentic harp for each period music, but good quality historic harp can cost you really big money - some of them can be twice expensive than big professional folk harp. Planty of harpists can afford only one or two instruments and if you wish some specials like good tripple harp than it can cost you more than new car. So be kind to harpists, we are not richest people in the world. :-D

Shame the harpist can't be bothered to use an instrument from the same period as the other musicians....

well, if you are passing off what you do as historically informed, restrict your performing repertoire to the instruments you have.... don't say any historical instrument is valid for any time... that is false, and dishonest.
