Enshrouded Early Access Review - A survival crafting game with a blend of ideas

Once night hit, it really does look dark as hell, but while you enjoying the night sky for awhile you'll notice the moon starting to show, then the moon light starting to shine to the surface, thats my favourite moment of the night where no torch is needed, just pure moonlight. And if you notice the cloud do block the lights sources, same with day and night over the moon and sun, this kind of immersion is really got me into the game

Actually, I did notice that the game would eventually light up at night. I didn't even realize it was the moonlight though! And that is so cool that the clouds actually play a role on blocking light sources. Didn't know that either but you mentioning it makes a ton of sense now why certain moments might be a bit darker/lighter than others. I'll need to pay attention to that when I get into the game again.

It's a great looking game, the graphics really add to the immersion. It's amazing what indy developers can create these days.

Oh yeah, most definitely! And with advancements in game engines like Unity and Unreal, the bar of what indies will be able to do will be even higher. As for Enshrouded, I appreciated the fact that, overall, it was a polished experience. There are too many survival crafting games out there that look good but have a lot of jank or are poorly optimized. Luckily, that wasn't the case with Enshrouded.

I had no idea that Enshrouded was done by the Portal Knights developers... They made such a big change in their designs between both games. Overall I'm not into survival, but the gameplay looks appealing to me, I might give it a try one day.. given that I have the chance to. I expected much less from this one but it might be actually closer to what I like than what I iniatially thought.

Yeah, I actually didn't either until I was writing the review. I clicked on their name just because I was curious. It seems like they really stepped up their game, which makes sense. They took what they learned from Portal Knights and created another title that seems to have netted them some massive success. I had expected Enshrouded to be decent but I really thought that Nightingale would have outperformed Enshrouded since it's produced by top game development veterans (from Bioware I think?) and I thought it had a much stronger setting (some sort of alternate worlds mixed with Steampunk Fantasy). But that's been plagued with other issues so it's only sitting at a Mixed rating.

@@StealthyshiroeanHumbleReviews I've heard that Nightingale was a failure overall but I didn't particularly deep dive into it either. Early access CAN be interesting, but often it's enough to see that for me to look away. Which is maybe why I didn't give any attention to Enshrouded either.

@@SenMayerGaming I'd say calling it a failure overall is probably a bit harsh, but it definitely didn't stick the landing in the same way Enshrouded did. And yeah, I've been burned by Early Access before. Heck, before Early Access was even a thing. A lot of the time, I don't even bother with it unless it already looks close to a finished product. Or at least a well-polished product.

@@StealthyshiroeanHumbleReviews I've only heard about it from Reddit and they weren't that nice with the game, so might be my bad on the overall state of the game, as I didn't play it. Reviews are overall mixed right now, so could be worse. We share the same opinion on early access then!

No problem! And haha, yeah, I think it helps that gaming is basically my form of relaxation so I usually play something for at least a bit of time just about everyday, if anything just to unwind. But this game was kind of tough to make a video on only because since I received the key, it also came with a time window to get a video out. Otherwise, I would've played this over the course of months until I completed the content. Kinda like Marvel Midnight Suns....that review is coming, I swear haha
