Hello lettering friend! I’m Sarah from Ensign Insights. I started hand lettering in 2016 during a really difficult time and hand lettering reminded me how to be happy. I dove in head first and haven’t looked back! I started teaching lettering and sharing that joy I found with others. My goal is to help you create hand lettering that feels like your best self. Most recently I've been doing that through a Hand Lettering Journal. In 2021 my first book was published, Hand Lettering for Beginners. It includes everything I wish I had when I got started. I used to be addicted to buying new pens, and while I still love pens, I’m on a journey toward minimalism so I’ve been decluttering A LOT of pens. I’ve realized I’m more creative when I have just enough pens, not too many. I firmly believe that you can create something beautiful with what you have! Do you ever draw a crooked line?😢 i have become such a groupie of yours. I just got your book for beginners. It's beautiful Sarah! I've ordered every brush pens you've suggested. I watch all your tutorials. I'm really proud. On just 2 weeks my lettering has gotten so much better! I didn't think I could do this but... practice works! I'm just not at the part where you taught how to decorate the letters themselves.. pentel white gel pen and now I'll be getting these gel pens by Karin that you're suggesting. I feel like I know you. I hear your voice all the time. There are so many talented letter-ers out in the KZbin universe. I do enjoy "Kellycares"...I think that's her name. She sells all kinds of great stuff but i just follow your lead. Thankyou for inspiring me to take on a hobby I'm working through some tough stuff and this is the perfect distraction. God bless you!❤

It's really nice to see a good range of high quality metallic gel pens available again! A lot of times I've noticed that particularly red and green metallic pens tend to underperform- the color seems to sink down or evaporate up or something, leaving it way too silvery. I have this issue with some pen sets where the rest of the colors dry just fine. Other times some shades will be dull to begin with, or just uneven- some pens showing up really vibrantly and some being super desaturated. I recently tracked down full sets of the Uni-ball Signo Broad metallic pens that were mostly discontinued (except for the gold/silver/bronze shades)- since they're no longer manufactured it was a whole wild goose chase to find some brand new. Looks like these could be their spiritual successors 😄

Super helpful video! I love the glittery-ness of the jelly roll stardust, but I find that they skip a lot. I would LOVE a comparison video on the two brands so I have more info before restocking on pens soon!

What do you mean by scratchy? Like skipping a lot? They’re really juicy so as long as I go slow, the ink is flowing right out smoothly onto the paper!
