Prior to Wing Chun, Butterfly Knives were used by the Chinese military around 1820 on. They are basically Chinese trench knives. Early ones look more like large kitchen knives with fist guards.

those are BUTTERFLY KNIVES.....NEVER EXCLUSIVE to just WING CHUN. those are just plain old BUTTERFLY KNIVES. The CHoy Lee Fut and Hung Gar systsms also use them and they also come in different shapes. you should do more research for your product.

Wing chun knives and butterfly swords are different. Both the length and the broadness of the blade is less for wing chun knives. Also, the grip of wing chun knives are set at an angle from the blade such the when fully extended and wrist bent the blade of the knife aligns perfectly with the forearm in a way that is not possible with butterfly swords.

to be fair there r variations that are designed to be carried on your person and be relatively compact

They were carried by Shaolin monks hence the name they were forbidden to kill 8 chop sword wrists elbows knees and ankles to incapacitate Wing Chun they have many ways to kill with them the swords have been around for hundreds of years
