I just watched your video on your one year progress and your lovely Tele. Oh I see you've moved to a Fender Strat. I see you're progressing faster than me haha. And THE WARNING! Great you've picked that. I grew up in Monterrey, where they're from. We're all so proud of them. So when I have some time to play, I often play some of their songs. I like them a lot and their music is very fun to play. Great to see you keep rocking! Don't let rock be forgotten!

OMG! Sean! Get yer head outta the sand! Alessia Cara is one of my favourite "new" artists, and I had no idea she'd covered Enter Sandman. I gotta get back to listening to new music! It's an awesome version. And Michelle, you do it justice. Very nice playing. On the tone. Very nice. How much of that came from plug-ins in a DAW, how much came from your amp, and how much from the controls on your guitar? I've been having fun playing around with tone on my own Fender Player Strat lately, balancing my amp (don't use plug-ins yet) and my guitar controls, particularly on the bridge pickup for rock rhythm tones like this. I really like the tone you got here. It's quite amazing what we can do with these guitars. You can get some amazing rock tones out of a Strat. Definitely not just for blues, funk and country.

Thanks! haha it's actually so simple I use an audio interface (focusrite scarlett) to input my guitar onto my laptop and use GarageBand to record. It's a preset tone called "Classic Drive" under "Distorted Guitar" sounds. And the Strat was on the bridge pickup with all the knobs turned up.

@@MichelleCarr Ah, GarageBand. The classic free DAW (Digital Audio Workstation, for those not familiar with the term). Comes installed on Apple machines, yes? Or you can get it free? Alas, I'm in Windows World. I think there are workarounds, but last I checked, there isn't a straight GarageBand for PC, unless that's changed recently. There are free and low cost DAW's for Windows or Android machines, though. I have one. Can't comment on it yet, as I'm very new at using it. I've watched videos and read up on how to record on computer, but I'm only just getting started, so I haven't done much yet. It comes with some plug-ins, too, kinda like Classic Drive and the other ones in GarageBand. I haven't used them yet. Right now, I'm having fun making up my own by manipulating the knobs on my Boss Katana (it's a fairly popular digital modelling amp), and making use of the effects and amp models that come built in. The Katana is its own interface, so I just plug it in to my laptop, and I can record with the effects I use in the amp. Still getting the hang of the basics, and that's just audio. Haven't done much with video yet, except a few bad ones on my phone. I'm also starting to learn how to use the volume and tone controls on my guitars intelligently. Starting off dialled off in volume a bit, then bumping the volume near the end of a song to add some emphasis to the finish. Dialling off the tone on the bridge pickup of my Strat, (LOVE that bridge pickup! So crunchy!), in order to get a bit warmer, creamier tone sometimes, rather than blazingly bright. Depending on the effects I use, or the amp model, sometimes that Bridge crunchiness and brightness is a bit too much, and needs to be blended off. Things like that. Stuff I've picked up from watching videos of more experienced guitar players.

@@seanbaines yeah I have a Mac haha, I actually have the boss katana amp as well but I haven't utilized the amp features at all 😂 I use iMovie to edit the audio and videos together, it's a pain at first but totally worth it once it's finished.

Great you liked the song. Sometimes we get to know new bands/artists by accident. Glad you liked the collaboration with The Warning. The Warning went viral about 10 years ago when they covered Enter Sandman and 2023 was a great year for them touring even in Europe, which is not common for a Mexican band, so we're proud of them (I grew up in the same city as them). So for the black list they were invited by Metallica. I still don't know how Alessia Cara ended up there, but in this video she says The Warning asked for the collaboration: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apStp4KVlNCob8k. It's a great opportunity for people from both worlds to learn about the other artist. If you want to see the behind the scenes of the recording of the song, you can watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5u6i5-QgtOkoJY. Cheers!

@@MichelleCarr oh, a Boss Katana. I wanted to buy one, but living in a flat I kind of thought it would be a waste since I wouldn't be able to really crank it up and mostly use it on headphones. But one day! haha
