I was hoping a School of Rock band did this one. ! Unfortunately it looks like there was a bad electrical connection. Except for that they nailed it perfectly.

I’m a former SoR Dad - my daughter fronted the house band on lead guitar/vocals. I’ve seen a hundred shows in person and at least a couple of hundred on KZbin. Vocalists are not as easy to come by as you think. I’ve seen all types and I think this young lady did an impossible job exceedingly well. She has to approximate Hetfield’s vocals WHILE staying in key. Many are so flummoxed by live performances today with pre-recorded backgrounds vocals, real-time autotune and effects that when hearing an essentially “dry” live vocal of a still-developing voice, they are underwhelmed. I bet this young lady got to rehearse this song with the full band no more than 5-6 times. She’s not well-seasoned in front of audiences, that’s for sure. Is there room for improvement? Yes, but that could be said of every member of the band. Last point. These videos are posted to help create excitement for the young musicians themselves. SoR is all about getting kids PLAYING even when they’re not ready. They’re trying to show them THE FUN OF SHARING A PERFORMANCE with others to give them the motivation required to up the chances they’ll stick to their lessons to become proficient. To make music more than a passing interest. The videos aren’t posted for critical review because everyone compares 14 year olds to the skills of 25-30 year olds. Please, everyone, remember that AND ALSO be appropriately kind because the kids see these comments (and so do their classmates) and a strangers words can be weaponized against a young person’s psyche. And, of course, the Internet is forever. So, what we type casually can dog them for years. This isn’t meant as an attack on the O.P. as much as a general thought-starter about commentary with young bands playing their hearts out in a parking lot when they have a term paper due. Think back before you lay down any “truth bombs.” To the young woman who sang Enter Sandman … you did yourself proud by bravely taking on, and singing the hell out of an iconic rock anthem. I hope to see much more of you in the future! Chris in NJ 😬👍
