For all of you who think this is too "soft" and "generic" for the band, you should reflect on the band's entire discography, because Enter Shikari's music is the definition of "not putting boundaries on music."

+MC Shithead naw. Not putting boundaries literally means they will make whatever type of music they want. He didn't misunderstand them, it's clear that you did. Rou has said he's a fan of some pop music (as well as many other types). Please give me an example as to which of their other songs this one sounds like. Because by making too much of the same music, THAT would show boundaries. And plllllease stop saying "irregardless". It's just "regardless", and I'm honestly just trying to educate you on that, not being rude.

+MC Shithead dumfuck, they literally believe that all music can be good, depending on the contents. I don't care what sort of 'proof' or 'quotes' you come up with, that is the litteral definition of enter shikari. Also, I refuse to understand how you think of this as bland, but that's a matter of opinion. to me, this is fucking great. the reason their music Is good isn't because they "evolve as a band", it is because they love what they do. And don't pull the whole "getting softer" card. their first songs were loaded with mellow shit. look at friggin constellations man. look at adieu. look at gap in the fence. Shikari likes to surprising everyone every now and then with a mellower or more serious song.

+expOsiris I understand, but in my opinion ES will always be ES, and even if they go down a route of commercialism and "let's make poppy music to appeal to the masses", they'll still have their old music to go back to (even tho I know that's not gonna happen..I hope) ;-;

Shikari has had at least one song like this on every album... It amazes me how many people are complaining about it being a bit softer and not super complex. What about Constellations, Adieu, Johnny Sniper, No Sleep Tonight, or Dear Future Historians? Y'all act like this is the first time ever that Enter Shikari has done something slow, melodic and less complex.

We drift apart, We drift apart, We drift apart, We drift apart, If there's one reason to smile, It's when you look up out at night, You're fortunate enough, To drink in a vista, A hundred billion flares, Display a glowing history, Splayed out across a canvas, the night sky, But, for a moment just contemplate, When looking up, you only saw a blank slate, And, for a moment just contemplate, It appears that heaven's been abandoned, We accelerate, Through the estate of outer space, We accelerate, We separate, we fragment, We accelerate, Through the estate of outer space, We accelerate, It appears that heaven's been abandoned, I climbed down from the wall, Where i sit and search for a source of light, Other than our dear sun, the lone star, oh, But, for a moment just contemplate, When looking up, you only saw a blank slate, And, for a moment just contemplate, it appears that heaven's been abandoned, Just contemplate, What if the heavens were abandoned? We accelerate, Through the estate of outer space, We accelerate, We separate, we fragment, We accelerate, Through the estate of outer space, We accelerate, It appears that heavens been abandoned, Your skin and bones, Heart and mind, Are made from the remnants of... stars, That died, And can you feel it inside? Can you feel it inside? Can you feel it inside? A supergiant erupts, into a supernova, The ultimate sacrifice, And we are the descendants! A supergiant erupts, into a supernova, The ultimate sacrifice, And we are the descendants! We drift apart, we drift apart We drift apart, we drift apart.

I, personally don't care whether they take a "pop direction". What makes Enter Shikari unique isn't the screams or heavy guitar. That's what every other band does. How can any longstanding fan of ES see this as a "new direction"? Since the very beginning they have dipped their toes in any genre they wish to; personally it's why I love them as much as I do. You never know what to expect from ES, and although this track may not contain the heaviest moments, or the complexity of other tracks, musically it is divine, and lyrically it is moving. Big up the lions!

Before this week, hearing this song was as pleasing as hearing all the other Shikari songs. But recently, I have heard it live for the first time (I have been a fan since A Flash Flood of Colours came out and went to one of their shows each year, that means 3 times, no matter the distance from where I live), and this time, in Bordeaux, France, I had been able to meet Rory, who gave me a very nice hug, and Rou, with whom we had a very nice talk. This moment, this night was very special for me. And so became this song. I can't stop loving and endorsing Enter Shikari! 🔻

+rollerboogie It's not overproduced, they've matured. I still love the raw unpolished Shikari when they were recording it in a bought out shithouse in St Albans and doing a music video with tin foil all over the walls - but I'm also happy to see what they've become. It's definitely your opinion or w/e but don't get polished confused with overproduced. I think Redshift is one of the smartest songs Shikari have released for a while.

+Luke Hart Well you can have polished music that's still grungy or has a grungy feel to it. It's definitely possible this music is just polished. I'm really not an expert. I just wish their music had the same edge.... I'll always like the band but I would never listen to this song in my car or anything. It just doesn't have much character to me. It's a personal opinion though.

I absolutely adore this tune. Its fucking beautiful, as ive said in other places online, thats the only way I can describe it. I love this new direction, Rou is an amazing singer and im glad hes been showing that more in the newer albums. Don't get me wrong I love all the old stuff and always will, but I find this new direction a fitting evolution of Shikari and Im behind them all the way. It makes me sad when comment threads are littered with people demand the old emo screamo stuff, I wish they would just accept that the stage happened and they can listen to it whenever they like and move on. Enter shikari remains the only band I can get truly passionate about and each new release fills me with excitement. Bloody love this band.

***** Yes they have but look and their older stuff and The Mindsweep. I love The Mindsweep but they have not as many heavy stuff as they had before. Not many screams or agressive parts. Not saying that the "new" songs are bad, cause we all know Shikari can't make a bad song.
@JamesFernando1988
@JamesFernando1988 8 жыл бұрын
+Rui Carneiro The mindsweep has plenty of heavy songs, enter shikari have never been about always being heavy anyway, and if thats what you look for go listen to metal or something.
@Ru1Roy
@Ru1Roy 8 жыл бұрын
+Jim Dennison It doesn't have as many as their older records. That's a fact. A Flash Flood was way heavier and The Mindsweep is much more ambient, softer songs. Like for example Torn Apart is not an heavy song until the very end (just like Bank Of England, Never Let Go....). That doesnt make them any worst. Its just their choice.

Seems like the band has grown up more and more. Gone from angry at the government (common dreads), to angry at capitalism and people accompanied by the belief that people have the power to reject capitalism altogether (FFOC), to angry at the entire politic ( 'politic' meaning 'relational', not government) system we live in (The Mindsweep). To a realisation that that's all human play, that we come from more than that and ARE more than that. Seems like the development of anyone growing up. It's how it went for me. Each discovery leading to the next. Though we have to deal with the system's shit, (very anti-establishment I know blah blah) we have explorations like the one's depicted in this video to enjoy. A consciousness of consciousness. Lovely. Even the depiction of the particle, I guess a proton or neutron, looks correct, either two up quarks and one down quark, or two down quarks and one up quark, interesting.

+Árpád G. Nagy I do indeed, but the 2:54 of 'pop' before then does worry me. So many bands have softened and chased the mass market for a few years before eventually getting back to their roots, just hope this doesn't happen to ES!
@ArpadGNagy
@ArpadGNagy 8 жыл бұрын
+Llamaland I wouldn't worry, their music as many other bands' does evolve, but the softness is always lurking between the lines more or less, if you watch them play these "soft songs/parts" live you can see the grin on their faces from time to time, it's part of their music, but as long as they keep a balance, and I think they do that quite well, I don't mind the mildness from time to time :)

+Llamaland Enter Shikari has ALWAYS had soft songs in their albums. Ever heard Adieu or Jonny Sniper? Gap In The Fence or Wall? Stalemate or Constellations? Dear Future Historians? They have always been a much more diverse act, than your simple run of the mill metalcore bands with electronic elements. If that's what you want, there are plenty of those out there. Shikari should do whatever they feel like doing or they will end up just the same way - boring and predictable.

honestly guys, you have to realize that these guys can't just appeal to the one group of people that just want the heavy side of enter shikari, the majority of their fans LOVE the soft and poppy side along with the heavy stuff. it's all about finding that perfect mixture of edge and easy listening. let me just say that enter shikari kills BOTH categories. They are one of the few bands that actually listen to their fan base, they won't disappoint ANY of their fans.
