Sandman is a perfect example of you don't need good *"In-ring workrate!"* in order to be a popular wrestler. You need character and charisma. That's what's most important when it comes to getting over. This is what the modern wrestling business has lost. Everyone's too focused on being *"The greatest wrestler!" in the ring. Yet most modern wrestlers have no character, charisma or mic skills.

@@calvinfolan1736 Well i would disagree with those specific examples because i think Eddie Guerrero and Bret Hart had character. Eddie moreso developing his during the Ruthless Aggression Era on Smackdown. He had a lot of charisma, mic skill and personality. Bret might not have had the charisma level of Guerrero but id still place him quite a bit above most of the roster today. Plus at the very least Bret had the look of a super star imo. Despite being a "Smaller" guy for the time.

These guys are fukking their bodies up so badly before they're 40. Hell, some of these guys are causing massive damage to their bodies before they're even 30! Like that Will Osprey guy who had that nasty neck injury. And what's the pay off? The viewership for AEW & WWE continue to go down. AEW struggles to hold 1 Million Viewers. What I loved about James bullingdon is the fact that he didn't look like your normal top-tier wrestler. He was this beer drinking, kendo stick swinging wild man that you couldn't help but be in awe of. It's good to know that he's still wrestling in this style in his 60's.

Honestly Sandman is probably one of the closest wrestling has got to a real street fighter. Just a guy who smokes and drinks and then beats the hell out of any dude who messes with him. His messy style and overall aura probably puts Sandman at one of my favorites of all time, plus an absolute metal theme, so that helps.

I remember his run in WWE from 2006-2007 on ECW and Raw brand it was odd seeing him not use weapons unless on specific occasions he couldn't work without them which was the problem with sandman they couldn't write him right I would book him in Hardcore matches even a hell in a cell match would work because he could still use weapons.

I think it was Tommy Dreamer who said in an interview that Sandman and New Jack could both wrestle, but they never needed to cause they were so over. Sandman himself said in an interview that he knows how to chain wrestle but forgot the names of the moves, for what that's worth.

Sandman was never really great in-ring performer, he was descent at best, but he was great for the image of ECW because his live performances were wild. He looked like Paul Hayman picked some random bar brawler off the street and told him to wrestle. Also I think he was the first in "modern" era to enter from the crowd, I don't recall anyone doing this before him, not even Sting (Sting at this time was still blonde and shiny, he didn't became Crow-inspired)
