Thank you for showing what our storms are like here. hopefully this gets a lot of views ⛈

When I took a vacation to Florida with family, I got a very similar storm on June 24th (we were near NSB for about a week starting a few days before that). The lightning was so close that we nearly turned around, but since I love extreme weather, we just stayed in it, going to a gas station as we always do after a chase (the storm formed a little away from where we were staying). The clouds were so dark and the clouds themselves looked very ominous as we were getting nearer and nearer, and the sky turned a little green too, and we all know what that means. Florida gets such amazing storms. I wish I could move out of New York but we have family here, and to be honest, I can't give up the amazing variety of weather we get here, and the weather influenced by the lake.

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I kid you not, they DID have accumulating snow in the central and northern part of the state on January 19, 1977, and flurries were seen as far south as Miami. Extremely RARE!! It caused severe damage to the citrus and orange industry. 2 inches accumulated along the I-4 corridor, and there were many wrecks.

I do too! Driving in them is so exciting for me so long as it is not a hurricane or tornado!
@ILoveOldTWC Жыл бұрын
Lightning is much more common in Florida than even hurricanes, and kills more people than hurricanes as well. Because they happen so often, people don't take lightning as seriously as hurricanes. This is also close, by the way, to where three of the 2004 storms crossed each others paths - Charley, Frances, and Jeanne. Even after these storms die out, they usually put out outflow boundaries, which create more of these thunderstorms, with more spectacular lightning displays. Then at night, you typically see what perceived to be "heat lightning", which in reality, there's no such thing as, just a storm that's not close enough to you to hear thunder.

That is an impressive shelf cloud (gust front), and you can see by cloud movement at all levels that storm is really ripping along. Not often you see storms with that fast of forward movement in FL.

You're near the Polk/Highlands County border. That's a shelf cloud. It's ominous. That's the part of the state, inland, where the Gulf Sea Breeze and the Atlantic Sea Breeze meet up, and these kind of thunderstorms form.

Cool video! Funny rapping too! LOL! Where is Sebring,FL? I don't think I've ever heard of it. I used to live in Satellite Beach, FL from 1969 to 1971 when my late father was in the Air Force. He was stationed out at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, so he had to commute out there from Satellite Beach. This is in Central Florida. Yeah, that certainly was an intimidating looking storm before the rain began hitting the windshield. It did look like there indeed was some rotation too! Superb job on the video again!
