This is nice, but I do miss some features from past bridges. For instance, the weapons alcove from the TMP refit and Spock's science station from TWOK. One thing I surly don't miss is that stupid-assed gear shifter for warp speed! The Kelvin timeline can have it.

I Really like the aesthetic of this last iteration of the Enterprise Bridge, it strikes a balance of futuristic and real world quality. Holds up well 30+ years later. The only aspect that may give away its age is the view screen. By today's standards it would & could be much larger. Good job recreating it. 👍

One obvious thing this Bridge design has going for it is the pair of CLOCKS at Port and Starboard, giving the time-of-day in Hours, Minutes, and Seconds, from "00:00:00" to "23:59:59" every ship's day. The TOS Bridge had a Ship's Chronometer right in front of the Captain's chair, just below the Astrogator, with "HRS🔴MIN" to the Left and "🔴SEC" to the Right, with only the Captain really being in a position to see the clock. The Remastered version of "The Naked Time" re-did the special effects shots of the Chronometer station, featuring a STARDATE clock on the Left and a SHIPBOARD clock on the Right. Perhaps one of the many video displays on this Enterprise-A Bridge presents both the STARDATE and the SHIPBOARD times, but if it's there somewhere it's not an obviously noticeable display. This Bridge shows us the Clock in two prominent locations (at least -- maybe there are more than two of 'em), though we don't see the STARDATE also displayed, for whatever reason.

This used to be my favorite design until I noticed the scene where Chekov almost falls to his death trying to get into his chair. Once you notice it, you can't unsee it. He has to tip toe on that ledge to sit down at Navigation. If you get thrown out of that seat on this bridge then you've got a long drop to the floor.

Amazing work. As a Star Trek fan of Star Trek from 1966 to 2005 and some of the relaunch novels; I despair at the fracture in the fandom between original Star Trek and 2009 to 2024 NuTrek. Hopefully we can come together again after JJ Abrams/Alex Kurtzman are gone.
@robbetzАй бұрын
@@plugsocket9432 lol thank you! I had to chuckle at the “I despair” then followed by coming together when Abrams and Kurtzman are gone. Come on man! Let’s not be Star Wars fans about this; Star Trek was ahead of its time socially, politically, and visually. By its very nature it has to evolve and keep up with the times and yes that may mean passing the torch to new blood and new visions. I get the controversy over the Kelvin timeline but I still enjoyed the movies. I didn’t like them redoing TWOK as Into Darkness; they could have done the same story but without it being Khan. Bad choice. As for new trek I enjoyed Discovery and Picard and LOVE Strange New Worlds. That show in particular has done the Enterprise right. It pays homage to the TOS ship but updates it appropriately.

I love seeing all the screens and panels turn on one at a time before the main lights come on, that was a cool touch. The only thing that would make it better (and please don't take this as a criticism, just me always hoping to see that next extra step :P) is if each of the screen had like a startup sequence. Like the status displays with the moving bars start at zero before loading up, and the ship diagrams start blank before loading in the systems displays and all. A boot up sequence, as it were. Granted, we never saw this on screen, so there would be nothing canon to draw from. But it would still tickle my little Trekkie brain :P

The turbolift positions might not match the TMP shooting model, but the turbolifts are in the correct position based on the bridge set they used to film ST6.
@Wolfe351Ай бұрын
its nice looking but I prefer the version from ST:V its more accurate to the physical limitations of the bridge exterior design! The ST:VI bridge would not actually fit the shape, the two turbo lifts are too far apart and would require a much larger bridge module than is on the ship.
@robbetzАй бұрын
@@Wolfe351 a topic for endless debate same as whether the tos bridge was angled. I don’t disagree w your assessment but in thinking about it my best workaround is that if they dropped the bridge a little that would allow for the extra room. 🤷♂️ At the end of the day, best not to nitpick too much as it would simply unravel everything by trying to make sense of too many things in Star Trek that don’t make sense; starting with how little sense it makes to have the bridge on top of the saucer section to begin with. It should be buried deep inside the ship like the CIC in Battlestar Galactica.

Nice render, especially the animated displays. But I hate this bridge. All that dead space between the obvious, disconnected patchwork of 4x3 television monitors... yuck. The best TOS crew bridge remains the one we only saw for a few seconds at the end of ST:IV. It's bright, and airy, and the okudagrams aren't so numerous as to overwhelm. And they are more purpose driven in their arrangement. They don't look like a bunch of old TV's in a used appliance store. I would like to see more purpose built cutouts for each gram. The round ones particularly would benefit from a uniquely shaped outlet for each one.
