Couldn't you use just ALLSELECTED(Regions) instead of two allselected filters inside calculate? Another one on the update rank calculation: Can we use ALLEXCEPT(REGIONS, REGIONS[FULL COUNTY] Thanks Sam

what if State and Region were from other tables with an active relationship with the Region table? This is where I am getting stuck! Any help is most welcomed

Many thanks for that! A great video as always! Country (Updated) = CALCULATE( RANKX(ALL(Regions[Full County]), [Total Sales], , DESC ), ALL(Regions), VALUES(Regions[Full County])) If you wanted to amend your above function to exclude blanks how would you do this within your VALUES()? I'm trying to amend your DAX to construct an ascending rank which omits blanks and can be filtered, but I'm struggling to figure out how you would tell the DAX to exclude empty values within the main reference data. My example so far omits them from the table but not the rank despite being the 1st value it's 16th in mine: SSR Rank (Static) = IF( NOT (ISBLANK(AA_Measures_SSR[SSR])), CALCULATE( RANKX(ALL('Institution Name (Complete)'), AA_Measures_SSR[SSR], , ASC, Skip), ALL('Institution Name (Complete)'), VALUES('Institution Name (Complete)'[Provider short name]))

how do I rank all items except two on my list. I have survey data. Each person has multiple rows in my data; one per item answered per person. In my pivot table I have [Items] in rows and want to return blank on two values and rank all remaining items. I have an example btw but I posted a detailed example with my dax attempt and links to more info on another video and my comment disappeared.

Great theory but in most cases ppl work with many dimension tables - it works only in particular scenario when columns come from one table. If one place columns from different dimensions there is some kind of crossing happening and many rank positions are visible which should not be visible. I don't understand why all tutorial present perfect scenarios which does not exist in real life. Ranx is is the most unfriendly function in DAX:( I also don't see any good explanation why the solution here works. The RANKX lookup table is always calculated against ALL counties, it doesn't matter that there is calculate with ALLSELECTED?
