Your video clearly explain how to resolve issues with incorrect matrix visualization totals in Power BI. This is the best video (or article) I've seen on this topic. I'm currently working to resolve a similar issue with incorrect matrix totals and now I should be able to get it resolved. Thanks!

Great video Brian! I remember that case like it was yesterday and one thing I've learned after dealing with it was to create virtual tables to do whatever I needed to do, and get the exact result/total I need. Very well explained!

Thanks! Great seeing you here - that problem was fascinating start to finish. Everything that I yada yada'd through here to get to the totals portion was really interesting too. Perhaps another video down the road...

Hi Brian, I think this is one of the best videos on the subject. It certainly helped me understand the issue and how to address it. Thanks for the upload.

Thanks so much for the feedback! Fixing totals in Power BI is by far the most common problem we get on the forum, so I was hoping to provide some useful tools/approaches to help users work through that issue. Glad to hear that you think I hit the mark. Thanks for watching!

Great! Its working for me so cool.This is the best video for matrix total issue

What can you do if you only have 1 value but you still want to calculate the sub-total differently? In this case, both the subtotal has one value and the row/column context.

Hi, I have a question, what if I have 2 rows and 1 column, how do I correct those values, because when I create a measure and insert it to a matrix, the row on top add its results with the one below :/

Hey Leticia, It's a bit difficult to assess and recommend without looking at the data structure, model and working of the PBIX file for reference. For further queries, you can also reach out to us at our Community Forum by providing a detailed description of your query along with relevant files for reference. Helpful but the load time for a large data set is certainly an issue when using this formula. Do you know any workarounds for load time issues?

Sometimes PBI wouldn't show totals even in a table visual that doesn't use measures, just dropped-in fields. Curious - why is that?
@EnterpriseDNA Жыл бұрын
Hello obj, Thank you for posting your query onto our channel. We really appreciate you taking your valuable time to post it. That could be because the settings of that field may have been set to "Don't Summarize" or the totals are set to off. Please check these settings in your Power BI report. As an important note, it's never a recommended practice to use the fields directly into the report and rather should be used in the form of measures. Please refer our best practices video for the reference. For furthermore queries, you can also reach out to us onto our Community Forum by providing a proper description of the query along with the reference mock-up files to work on, where our members as well as experts team will be able to assist you in a better and efficient manner. Below is the link of the forum provided for the reference as well. Hoping you find this useful! Hello. What would be approach If I need to have Measures as columns, and in a Row section of Matrix is Year Hierarchy (Year /Month), so values are per month and need Totals per year, but not showing. I tried your approach, not working? Thank you in advance.

Hi, thank you for the great video/tutorial. It helped me solve a similar scenario. Is there a meaning to the "@" sign in the DAX code? I tried giving a name without the "@" sign and it failed
@NirRobinson3 жыл бұрын
Great video! Thanks. Can we solve the same with summarise?
@brianjulius64013 жыл бұрын
You absolutely could. There's so much flexibility and power in the DAX table functions that most problems like this one can be solved in multiple ways, and a really common pattern for addressing incorrect totals is to nest SUMMARIZE within the table argument of SUMX.
@SergiyVakshul3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I would comment VALUES( Opportunities[Period] ) line in "//Condition B - force column totals" block and "VALUES( Dates[ShortMonth] )" in "//Condition C - force row totals". They are superfluous
@brianjulius64013 жыл бұрын
Thanks - nice catch! This does simplify the final measure. I'll address this at the end of my next video.
