To be honest, as a Dub, from the northside, i have mixed emotions towards my own county, in one way I absolutely hate it, i hate the little gurriers in tracksuits everywhere rubbing shoulders with nice tourists from the US or Spain... and junkies, its not on at all... The ghastly modern architecture, and general lack of intelligence. I also hate the materialism of it, every prick pulling up outside the shopping centre in his white bmw. And every second girl you see just caked in makeup, then you go to somewhere like Donegal and i think “oh yeah, this is what real women look like”. I have always liked the country people and had some very nice country teachers in school, and have ties to many counties myself. Have cousins in Cork and I’m going to say it now, i prefer Cork, i love their accents, and i like the vibe in Cork, and love all the other towns there, I’m from Dublin, like being a Dubliner, but don’t feel at home here, its not the city of James Joyce or the Dubliners anymore...

@stephenwalsh77894 жыл бұрын
The Dubs think they're a huge city because they have a couple of Luas lines that spend more time crashing into buses and pedestrians than running smoothly. Cork is more compact but we have everything we want and need within a close distance. Friendlier people, plenty of great pubs and restaurants and great colleges like CIT and UCC and the brand new Pairc Ui Chaoimh stadium. Cork is a city on the rise. Dublin is a city that's severely overheated with a huge drug and crime problem and the homelessness in Dublin is scary. Having a Luas line and a few more big buildings doesn't make you a better city lads.
@irishtruther10134 жыл бұрын
your right dublin is a shit hole and thats coming froma dubliner here, granted i live in a fairly nice area but i know my boundaries
@TheSpaceman3322113 жыл бұрын
Dubs don't think Dublin is a huge city, quite the opposite actually. It's promoted as a very walkable city because of its size. The Luas is a great service though. It runs on-time 99% of the time and is quick. It's one of the countries best transport successes. Friendlier People? That's subjective, there's sound ppl/aresholes in both cities. Cork ppl seem to have a chip on their shoulder. Trinity and UCD are ranked higher than UCC and CIT in global university rankings. Croke Park and the Aviva are bigger and more impressive than paric ui chaoimh. The restaurant scene in Dublin is actually punching up in regard to variety and quality. The city is over heated because of the job market. It's the financial, economic, technological, medical, construction, media, telecommunication centre of the country. The drug, homeless and crime problem is obviously going to be bigger in Dublin, that's what u get when u compare a city with a large town. Nothing attracts me ever to want to live in cork over Dublin and I think most ppl in the country feel the same.
@irishtruther10133 жыл бұрын
@@TheSpaceman332211 besides the rents tho in dublin its crazy down the country its much cheaper to rent
@TheSpaceman3322113 жыл бұрын
@@irishtruther1013 it's true, the rent is scandalous, but there's more higher paying jobs in Dublin that makes up for it in a small way (Still way over priced). If u want city amenities you'll have to pay more. I don't think cork has even a 50m long swimming pool. You get what u pay for. Plus the rent in cork city is overpriced also.
